Does anyone here remember the Top of the World? That was before it was California Grill....I remember a floor show at night, where there was a singing act. Anyone else recall this?? I was a pretty young girl, but I can remember singing Hello Dolly :- )

I remember! I was there around 1992 and saw it. It was a dinner show with a cast of 5 or 6, I think? They sang all sorts of show tunes, and then they would put the microphone in front of some of the guests while they were singing. I liked it, but it was a little cheesy. GREAT VIEW though!

I do, I do! It was "Broadway at the World" and we loved it! And there was dancing after. I so wish they would add a show like that again, not just Hoop De Doo and Luau. It was really more of what I consider a "dinner show."

I remember the Top of the World Sunday Brunch. The last time we went, in 1992, the sun, the servers in their black and white, the ice sculpture-I loved it!

I remember it from when I was little on Christmas Eve to 1992 as well! It was a BLAST!:thumbsup2

oddly enough from 1992, too, but also from the 1980's. I was a teenager, but I loved that show. I agree with everyone that I would love something like that to come back to the World again. I miss the good ol' days of the 1980's. I love things now, too, but there was something special about the World before it got so big. And oh, my, how I loved those Sunday Brunches at the Top of the World. It was and still is the best breakfast buffet I have ever been, too.

Does anyone remember the Gulf Coast Room at the Contemporary Resort? It was fancy, schmancy (think Victoria & Albert's)...but there was this funny guy there who would visit all the tables and crack jokes. I remember he asked our table if we wanted to see a picture of his Pride and Joy, and then he held up a photograph of Pride detergent and Joy dishwashing liquid. He was full of one-liners like that....

does anyone remember riding the monorail and seeing the Grand Floridian as it was being built? I also remember walking over to the Disney Inn, before it became Shade of Green, and having the nicest lunch in the restaurant there. That was back in 1992, too. I miss those days a little....

I remember the Sunday brunch, too. My first visit to WDW was going on one of my first trips as an employed, college graduate adult 23 yr old in 1989. My family never even considered it as a vacation when I was a kid, so I was interested.

That brunch was spectacular. One of the strongest impressions I still have in my mind was the way the light from those huge windows bounced off the ice sculptures. And the big bowls of shrimp below.....

I was so young and impressionable then!!!! :rotfl:

I recall from our 1982 trip that we had a buffet lunch there. It was a weekday, so it was not Sunday brunch. The view was spectacular, even in the daylight!

One of my biggest regrets is that I never took any pictures of the GF being built. Back then, the only way to the MK was by monorail, so we saw it being built many times. I'm so glad someone else remembers the ice sculptures.

Loved Broadway at the Top (always got the prime rib), and I loved the Sunday brunch too. That was the first place I ever saw an omlette station, and my first experience at having things like strawberry shortcake and ambrosia for breakfast.
I complain here to anybody who will listen that 1) WDW doesn't have enough dinner shows and they should bring back Broadway at the Top and 2) the CG stinks.

Glad to know there are a few of us out there who remember - and miss - the show. One of my favorite memories was singing along to Hello Dolly, and the guy putting the mic under me to sing - I was (5) years old and knew all the words. I think I threw him for a loop - he was so shocked - he gave me a big hug!

I know we went at least twice to the see show in the 80s - and my mom always made me wear a dress : - ) .... back in '84 they may have been a bit more stringent on signature dress....at least my mom was with me!

Glad to know we can keep the 80s alive in the Dis!

I just checked and apparently the Top of the World closed in September of 1993. I would have sworn it closed in the 80's.

Yep! I remember. I was alot younger :lmao: . It was back I'll say 77-78 when I ate there with my parents and my DBF who is now my DH. We went there back in April when it was our 25th Ann. When I said to one of the CM's the last time I was here it was the Top of the world. She looked at me like I had 2 heads:lmao: . We had fun :cool1:

Well I guess I'm not as cool as I thought. I don't even remember the Gulf Coast Room.
