Top of the World Lounge

Stayed at POP for 2 days before moving to Boardwalk and we were allowed access to TOWL with member card and pop kttw

EXACT same thing happened to us on our Dec trip. There still is pixie dust around!

We were there last week and went to see fireworks from the lounge. All we had to show was our AK room card. I had my DVC cards for us both but they were not needed. The view was fabulous!!

I'm heading to Disney at the end of August and would like to go to Top of The World when I'm there. When looking at picutures of the lounge I noticed a huge wall on the fireworks deck that wouldn't be a problem for adults to see the fireworks but I wonder if its a problem for little kids. Does anyone have thoughts on this. My kids are 3,5, and 7 and I don't want to waste my time going to top of the world if they won't be able to see anything anyway.

Also how early do you have to get to top of the world? Thanks for any suggestions.

The wall is tall (about 4'). There was a short wall in the back (about 3') that I saw children standing on to see the fireworks. You can also watch from the lounge or the windows by the elevators (this is where my son watched as he does not like loud noises). We arrived at TOWL 30 minutes before the fireworks (it did get busier closer to the start). The music is piped in for the show. I am glad we went - it was a different way to see the show without feeling squished. If you are not staying at BLT/CR you will not be able to park there. The funniest part was listening to the car alarms that were set off because of the show!

Not pixie dust. Last fall, they started allowing any DVC member staying on WDW property go up to the lounge with their KTTW and blue member card. Except for certain black out dates like Christmas and New Years.

I'll have an OKW ressie but would like to drive over to TOWL to see fireworks. Will parking be a problem? I would imagine that as long as I flash my DVC membership card I won't have any problems getting past security. Am I making a good assumption?

No. DVC has explicitly stated that members staying at other resorts who wish to visit TOTWL must use Disney transportation. They will not let you park at the resort.

You could either park at the Transportation & Ticket Center and take the monorail or take the OKW bus to Magic Kingdom and walk over.

and July 3rd and 4th.

have a reservation at AKV for July 3 to see the fireworks - oh well guess will just do MK that night. It is EMH.

doing blt the next night - July 4th...:stir:

Are children allowed in the lounge? If we got up to watch the fireworks, do we have to buy anything?

Yes and you don't even need to go into the lounge. The observation deck has a separate entrance before you enter the lounge. Keep in mind the walls of the observation deck are quite high, about 4 feet. So many children need to be held to see the castle and a lot of the lower fireworks. There are benches at the back of the observation deck (next to the building) that people let their children stand on. But there are not that many of those. I'm not sure I would want the kids to stand on the wall behind the benches because it's a bigger drop on the other side.

Did you notice the speaker that plays the music that matches the fireworks being shown (Wishes or Hallowishes etc.)?

When the observation deck first opened, the wall top was flat (rather than sloped like the picture in the previous post shows). Idiot parents were allowing their children to stand on the wall (imagine if one had fallen), so Disney CMs put up a tape barrier that everyone had to stand behind to watch the fireworks. Not too long after that, the sloped wall top appeared.

That's good news and sad that Disney has to be the one with common sense.

Idiots.

That CM has been there forever and he is rarely friendly, don't know how or why he still has a job. He doesn't have any Disney magic!

Probably cause he has to thwart off people always trying to "sneak" in. LOL
