Top Chef Chicago (Spoiler Thread)

Not sorry to see Ryan go--I think he was out of his league from Day 1. Nikki can go next, I was pretty underwhelmed with her as well.

It's important to remember, the general public chose the top and bottom three. Then the judges picked from those choices. So if, say, Mark had scored better, then his messiness wouldn't have mattered.

I hope Stephanie wins this season. I find her to be very likable (and a real good chef, to boot!)

I thought it was Tom who said that Ryan's food was just bad

I like Stephanie too. I also like oh crap what's his name....Richard? The gastroscientific guy. His burger looked YUMMO last night!

Todd&C, I don't know now...That was my perception of what you posted. I don't watch Padma's whatever either. I don't really like her.

I like Stephanie and Antonia the best...but I also like Richard, and Andrew (believe it or not) is growing on me! :lmao: Aside from her cooking skills, Antonia looks EERILY like my sister. I literally startle each time I see her face for the first time, each episode. The likeness is very, very, VERY uncanny. They could be sisters. Hell, they could be TWINS!! I, on the other hand, look absolutely NOTHING like my sister, and you'd never pick us out of a crowd as being the two sisters, in a million years. (Yes, we have the same mother and father, too!)

Interesting, because I think Antonia is beautiful!

I thought Ryan was adorable, too, but ugh all that talking at the judge's table just bugged me....

I like Mark for some reason, Stephanie and Antonia. Padma, Tom and the whole judge's staff give me the creeps...:scared: ... which is why I DVR it and just saw it!!:thumbsup2

I think the judges did a bam up job sending Ryan home. I really think it is as simple as: the challenge was to create a tailgate party....he was arrogant enough to think it didn't apply to HIM. He might have pulled it off if his food was half decent, but obviously, it wasn't.

I really like Mark, his food has been great in MOST of the challenges except the last two (if he had not followed Richard's lead time before last, he would have fared better).

I love Dale. He seems like a good person and you can tell the negativity of *****..uh..I mean Wendy is wearing on him. He was even decent enough to try to TALK to her and have a heart to heart and what did she do? He can go **** himself. Nasty heifer. I hope she goes next.

Grrrrrrrr I cannot STAND Lisa!!!!

DH and I thought last night was really unfair. Lisa and Antonia should have been the bottom group for not following the rules. Their dish might have been better, but at least the other pair worked really hard to stick with the theme and the rules. So the results last night now mean that following the rules of the challenge don't matter? Blah!

I agree if you can't even follow the challenge you should be out. I fell asleep last night right before they were to come back in and be told which one was leaving

I'm not sorry to see Jen go. She didn't put her effort in last night for Zoi, and see where it got her? :lmao:

I thought it should have been Lisa to go home. Not only did she not follow the rules, she basically told the judges how insulting it was for them to have them use Polish sausage in a gourmet meal. While the feta cheese overpowered the asparagus dish, did the sea bass not overpower the flavor of the chorizo?

I guess Jen wasn't needed anymore for drama since her GF was sent home.

I find it funny that last week they kicked off Ryan for not following the challenge rules and making a tailgating dish, but this week they totally disregarded the rules of the challenge, and did not kick off Lisa or Antonia.

Be consistent, judges, do you want them to follow the rules or not? Should they just make whatever they want with any of the challenges?

Lisa and Antonia had no hint of a polish sausage in their dish. As much as I couldn't stand Jen "I'm doing this for Zoe", she did not deserve to go.

I couldn't agree more. At least Jen and Stephanie were creative. They really got into it and then their efforts were totally ignored. I've seen people I like go home before but last night was the first episode I've seen that just seemed totally unfair.

I'm not sure what I think. I agree that Lisa should have gone home but I also think the problem with cooking something poorly really gets under Tom's skin. The bread was too hard on one side and soggy on the other? Can you image how bad that was. At least Lisa's dish was good.
I've said this before in this thread, Richard BUGS the heck out of me but I think him and Dale are there for the remainder of the show.

I love Richard. He's my favorite. Dale is my second favorite, then Stephanie. The swearing NY guy whose name I can never remember is actually growing on me. I'm not super fond of Spike, but I REALLY don't like Lisa, or Antonia. Nikki needs to go, she hasn't had a shining week yet. Mark, I liked at the very beginning but now he's just eh

I'll admit, its Richard's hair. I just can't get past it and his attitude that he's so eccentric and cool. I want to slap him. :) I like Mark and Spike. Andrew is the cursing guy from NY I think. I do like Dale. He's the head chef? at Buddakan in NY. We have one in Phila that is so amazingly good so I assume his is as well. I think Nikki is gone soon too. I think Steph and Antonia will carry to the end with one of them in the final 3 or 4. I think unless there is a major screwup Richard and Dale are final 2.

I like Richard's food style, but another one of the things I like about him I must admit, is that he reminds me of a lot of my friends.

I was disappointed they didn't send Lisa home. She just seems hateful, plus they did NOT follow the rules.

Overall, I love Top Chef, but this is the ONE thing that drives me nuts. The judges' inconsistency is just wrong. And it's nothing new either. This has been going on for a couple of seasons now. I'd like to smack Collicchio upside the head!
Nikki needs to go, she hasn't had a shining week yet.
When they called the "bottom four" into the judges room, that was the first thing I thought of, "How could Nikki still be there?" Jenn is definitely a better cook than Nikki is and yet she keeps skating by.

While I pretty much agree with you, I don't think you should count Andrew out so quickly. I think he'll be in there pretty close to the end and might actually be able to take the whole thing.

Of course, none of us actually taste the food, so I have to assume that plays a huge part in the decisions.

That said, it didn't bother me so much that Antonia and Lisa didn't use Polish sausage, as the fact that they held such disdain for the idea of putting it in a dish. Come on, smoked sausage cooked in beer, then put over purple cabbage sauerkraut? Something like that could have been a nice take on a classic, no arrogance, disdain or snobbery needed. And then to start complaining to Tom that she (Lisa) had never been in the bottom before?

I think they sent Jen home strictly due to the bread.

No one ever said they had to make polish sausage in beer over purple saurkraut. If they are truly "Top" chef's they should have been able to come up with something creative using Polish Sausage
