Top Chef Chicago (Spoiler Thread)

Just letting people know that you are knowledgable in a subject doesn't mean you are an arrogant jerk.
Well it's also about how you say it. And he was completely obnoxious about it. To the point that some there feared their safety because of his "anger issues". He knows it as well, as the first thing he said when he was let go, was something to the affect of "you don't need to get security".

But I agree, we can disagree. ;)

I don't think that comment was because "He knows it" I think it was a sarcastic rebuttle to Lisa's idiotic attempt at making him look bad.

I thought it was because in episode 1 or 2 (very early on) he was in the bottom 3 and told the judges he wasn't going home, this was his house and they'd have to call security.

I think he was kidding, trying to show his determination to stay but it came off weird to me and I thought he should've went home then.

Or do I have my chefs confused?

You are correct. He was in the bottom 3 before, and he made the comment above. I actually thought he acted very classy when he was told to pack his knives.

No you're correct and I remember him saying that but I still feel he was being sarcastic. if he had been violent in ANY way, they would not have hesitated to get rid of him, so I HIGHLY doubt he was ever violent towrds anyone. I've used that term before and I am not violent. It's EASY to read ANYTHING into something if you don't like the person

Me too. I've seen some go out in a pity party huff. I was really proud of the way he went out.

He has been but the other 2 have also had really bad attitudes IMO.

Not to mention that there is a HUUUUUUUUGE difference between intense and violent. I am intense....I am NOT violent.

I didn't mean to imply I thought he was violent. I just thought it was a weird thing to say especially so early when people are just starting to get to know one another. I think he's intense now, but if I only knew him a few days I might be a little scared. KWIM?

I didn't think you were implying anything! No worries :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm watching the beginning of this episode for the third or fourth time. Sitting at the computer (yes, even in the middle of the night) instead of on the sofa should keep me awake long enough to see whose knives got packed :teeth:

One thing I did pick up on during this watching is the rice - "How about this?" is very different from "Use this". Dale didn't MAKE Lisa use a specific type of rice - never mind that common sense should prevent Lisa from doing anything with rice, but that's just my opinion. There's this word? "No"? As in, "No, that's not sticky rice, it won't work"?.

Yes, I should be asleep but I NEED to see the end of the episode...

I agree. I assumed she would be the one to go home and am hoping she is gone next week. She is having trouble with the basic things like rice and risotto. While Dale was a pain, I think he was a much better chef than Lisa.

I am hoping Stephanie goes all the way. I hope I didn't just jinx's her!

From the way they were setting things up last night, I thought Spike was going to be sent home. I'm glad that he wasn't. I really thought, after watching the whole episode, that Dale and Lisa should have both been sent home. Both were completely inept last night with their tasks. While Spike has the charisma to work the front, it makes me wonder if he had been in the kitchen, would his team have done better?

Hopefully, little Miss Crossed Arms and Pout-face will be sent home next. She bugs me. Boudain was right. She looks like she doesn't want to listen to any of their constructive criticism and just shuts down when they start talking to her.

I was glad Tony was the head judge last night. I wish they'd replace Ted or Gail with him full time.

I was surprised they sent Dale home. I thought Lisa should have been the one to go. She gave him such a hard time, she really can't work well with others. Dale does have a temper, but I think he was more passionate about cooking than Lisa.
Now I guess I'd like to see Richard win.
