Top 5 Places you SHOULDNT eat

I noticed that most of the restaurants in the bottom five in here are the same ones that are in the top five in another thread.:rotfl2:

YEP.. half the problems are bad service...which can happen at any Disney Restaurant on any given day (when a few servers don't show-up that day) just a fact of life for a place that is crazy busy 365 days a year

There weren't too many restaurants we did not like but here are the worse we had:

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (The food was terrible, thank god for the princesses)

Raglan Road (Family hated it< but to be honest I did not mind it)

Brown Derby, for some reason Dw hated it. Must agree for the price the food was not a home run.

1. Captain Jacks- horrible food and horrible service. Sorry I don't want to hear about the fights the wait staff is having with the kitchen.
2. Rainforest Cafe- Waaaay too chaotic for my tastes. Plus for the prices they charge the food SHOULD be better.
3. Whispering Canyon- Has sounded like a hit or miss on these boards but the one time I went the service was a miss. Waitress was miserable and I was getting jealous watching other families have a good time with their waiter/tress :sad2:
4. Sunshine Seasons- Don't get me wrong rest of food was pretty darn good for counter. However, they made the list because of those darn rice krispie treats. They are AWFUL!!! How could you screw that up
5. Captain Cooks- Not for the food (thought it was great every time) but the machines. Good concept I suppose but poorly executed. It was just chaotic to order wait then go get it. I understand they worked with the space they had but I just wasn't all for it.

:scared1:

Ok ya'll are scaring me lol. We just made all our ADR's but now after I've read this it seems like...

The only TS place at DHS not mentioned is 50's Prime Time
The only TS place at Epcot (non World) on the DDP not mentioned is the Garden Grill
And I think we have to starve at Animal Kingdom  Oh wait, I don't think Tusker House is mentioned.

Ok I'm mostly joking, I know it's just people's opinions, but I'm a little worried now! I couldn't get in to Garden Grill or Tuskers! :rotfl:

Just please nobody tell me that the Crystal Palace is on their bad list, it's the only hope I have left! :upsidedow

I went back to check before I commented on the other thread.
Only one misguided person on the top 5 thread picked Rainforest Cafe.
The theming is great, but the food is just plain awful. (Sauce is not supposed to make a "glop" noise when it falls from your spoon.)

As several people pointed out, Rainforest Cafe is not a Disney restaurant. Even Disney at it's worst (which you can get find at Sci Fi) doesn't rival RC.

Luckily we didn't have to travel all the way to WDW and waste our vacation time to find out how bad RC can be. We tried it near home in VA, and then (just to be sure  ) tried it again in NJ. Blech, blech, blech.

 I personally love Crystal Palace, btw. (And a lot of the other people mentioned :lmao: )

My top 5:
1. Electric Umbrella --> dry burger, just crappy food overall
2. ABC Commissarry --> same as above
3. Backlot Studio Catering --> same as above
4. Marrakesh --> nothing wrong with the food at all, it just wasn't my thing. Great atmosphere though.
5. Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station........just the title of it makes me sick :rotfl2:

1. Captain Jacks in DTD. Have to agree that the food is really bad and I will not be going back.

2. Rainforest Cafe. I am okay with the taste of the food and they certain give you a plate full that you can easily share with someone else but the wait to eat at the one in DTD is horrible and service wasn't great (it took forever to get a refill on drinks).

3. Mama Melrose. Have to agree food isn't good and marinara sauce did look brown.

4. Sci-fi. I love the cute theme but stick to the expensive hamburger and shake as everything else is more of a miss than a hit.

5. Studio's ABC Commissary. Yuk! I have issues with most of the rest/counter serv. places in the studios.

1) San Angel Inn
2) 50's Prime Time Cafe ill explain this one the food sucked, our waitress did not getinto the games even if she did I dont think the concept was that thrill anyways liked the tv with old shows though! The food was pretty standard nothing special. And the smores dissapointed me :(
3) Planet Hollywood omg 3 hour wait BATMAN! UGhhh and the waitress was so worried about her kid that came to visit she neglected to take care of us. Drinks were amazing ! but the food was less then thrilling
4) Riverside Mill
5) Spirit of Aloha (EWW To the food!)

I'm really not thinking of a top 5 that I would say "don't" eat at because I didn't care for them but eh, someone else might. WDW has too many great places or at least good ones to dwell on the bad... EXCEPT The Rose & Crown. OMG! I'd NEVER EVER go there again. :scared: The food was inedible! At least what the 3 of us had was. Honestly. My DH and DS couldn't eat what they were given either. I don't know if it as because we were on the Candlelight package and had limited choices or what but I couldn't believe we paid $135 for our meal for 3 and had to go out right after and buy other food because we were all starving. Even the fruit and cheese plate! the fruit was good the cheese??? ICK! Turns my stomach to think of that meal. It as after that meal I finally had had enough of paying premium for crappy food. I was ready to go home.

hmmm.....we go so often that we havent really been to a place we dont like in a while but a few do stick out...

1. Sci-Fi--slow service, and terrible food (except maybe the milkshakes)---i was there 7 yrs ago and havent gone back since

2. ABC Commisary- Havent eaten there in about 3 yrs but lsat time we did he food was terrible and ive heard really bad reviews about it since than

3. Backlot- service was sooooo slow adn the food was not good....ours was cold by the time we got it

4. Electric Umbrella---we only go if we are really realy hungry after test track....the burgers are just not good at all....we always choose sunshine seasons instead

5. ummm....i cant really think of a 5th one

Its mainly DHS that has bad food but we just go to 50s eveyrtime and we love it

1 Rainforest Cafe a bit too noisy
2 Crystal Palace not keen on the food
3 Tony's town hall I went there solo last year and the waiter made it clear I wasn't going to see him again by bringing 2 glasses of soft drink so he didn't have to refill (the tip was included when I went and I did give extra for good service this one got nothing extra for that and spending time on the table next to me just because there where more people than me)
4 WCC the food isn't to my liking
5 Flame tree barbeque the same if you like that type of food I am sure you would love it but its not my cup of tea.

1. Kona for Breakfast. We can get omelets like this at any Denny's and we were not wowed by either the atmosphere or the service. The Tonga Toast literally made me sick.

2. Les Chefs de France - Mediocre food, horrible service from the person who seated us to our server.

3. Whispering Canyon Cafe - We had a dud of a server. Combine that with bad food (cold, greasy and flavorless) and we won't be rushing back anytime soon.

4. Pecos Bill's - DH refers to them as the cardboard burgers on a cardboard bun. His bun was dry - new wheat buns were ok at Casey's but not here. The school cafeteria provided better burgers than what we had here.

5. Toy Story Pizza Planet. We don't care for the ABC Commisary, but we'd go here before going back to Pizza Planet. Absolutely the worst pizza that we've ever had in our lives.

(With the exception of Kona, these opinions are shared opinions among our entire traveling party of 5 adults based on our three total weeks in Disney in 2007-2008. Dh and I went to Kona on our own on our Anniversary trip in April 2007)

We only have two...

Garden Grill
Liberty Tree Tavern (CD)

We will NEVER return to either!

Granted, we've only been once and it's been a while, but the only place we absolutely hated was Bongos. /shudder

To give some perspective, though, here's what I've found from this thread:

These places were mentioned multiple times:
Rainforest Cafe (10 times)
Sci Fi Dine In (6 times)
ABC Commissary (5 times)
Rose & Crown (4 times)
Mama Melrose (3 times)
Brown Derby (3 times)
Chef Mickey's (3 times)
Pecos Bills (3 times)
Whispering Canyon (3 times)
Planet Hollywood (3 times)
Captain Jack's (3 times)
Le Cellier (2 times)
Hollywood & Vine (2 times)
Pizzafari (2 times)
Raglan Road (2 times)
Liberty Tree Tavern (2 times)
San Angel Inn (2 times)
Akershus (2 times)
Bongos (2 times)
Electric Umbrella (2 times)
Backlot Studio Catering (2 times)

These were only mentioned once: CRT Dinner, Lotus Blossom, Biergarten, Boatwrights, Pizza Planet, The Plaza, Cape May, Yak & Yeti, Chefs de France, Coral Reef, Boulangerie in France, Sunshine Seasons, Captain Cooks, Marrakesh, Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station, 50s Prime Time, Riverside Mill, Spirit of Aloha, Cyrstal Palace, Tony's Town Hall, WCC, Flame Tree BBQ, and Hoop de Doo.

My apologies if I didn't match up some of those abbreviations with some that were already mentioned.

Bottom Line: Avoid Rainforst Cafe. Think twice about Sci Fi, ABC Comm, and Rose & Crown. But for every bad review you see of most things, there's at least one good review out there. EVERYone had different tastes and experiences and there's no telling what your wait staff will be like that day or what your own personal tastes are, so in th eend, if you think you might like it, try it out. It won't kill you if it's bad. ;)

Hmm...this is a hard one, because we haven't really had any horrendous TS experiences. So, I only have two that I would strongly suggest going elsewhere:

1. DAK/Rainforest Cafe: Honestly, it's NO different than any other RFC in the country!! I'd recommend choosing a place that is unique to WDW, instead of one you can find in every other mall near your home! My other beef with it is I find it extremely unpleasant inside (really dark & loud) and no matter which location I've tried, the service has always been bad.

OH! I So agree with this. I also think its overpriced for the poor (read-rude, slow, apathetic) sevice and mediocre food.

This is funny because my DH loves Sci-Fi. Now, he only gets a burger and I usually get the pasta dish so they can't mess that up too badly. My choices, in no particular order:

1 - Electric Umbrella - ditto on the dry burgers. Food is NOT good here.

2 - Anywhere that's only pizza. Room delivery, the pizza places, it's all bad.

3 - ABC Commissary

4 - Coral Reef - I didn't care for it 6 years ago but I got talked back into trying it again this upcoming trip so we'll see.

I think that's about it. I really try to do research ahead of time and avoid the places that get chronically bad reviews as well as checking the menu before we go in somewhere so we know we'll like something on the menu.

We have visited many times and have eaten is most restaurants. On our last tirp we had reservations for Japan, our favorite or at least always was. Japan was one restaurant we ate at every time since EPCOT opened. We haven't been since it reopened. We received a call from WDW and Nine Dragons was available (not much else to pick from in EPCOT a week before we went. We had never eaten there before and will never again, the service left much to be desired and no one had a meal they liked. Mine was shrimp with veg. I had a few shrimp which I left, they didn't taste fresh. Seafood is something I ALWAYS finish. The vegetables was Cauliflower. Since when is that a Chinese veg. I guess it could be included, but the only one? Maybe we had a bad experience and I hear they are redoing this one, but never again. Some others have been hit or miss like Sci Fi, San Angel but they at least were a little better than this plus the atmosphere is great. We also ate for the first time in Pecos Bill and we really don't eat ground beef anymore but we had great burgers when we were there in Sept 2007. My husband loved the fixens bar with mushrooms, onions and fresh tomatoes. Sounds like that was a good day for the CS restaurant. Just our experiences

We should add the tally from the thread "What Disney Restaurant Would You NOT want to go again and why?" Many restaurants have been listed there, and the counts will give you a better look at what people have liked and what they haven't (i.e. San Angel Inn and Sci Fi getting MANY votes!)
