Top 5 Must Have Meals at DL

I'm trying to decide where to eat. This is our first trip ever to DL. Could you tell me what your not to be missed meals are at DL???? Thanks my DL Gurus. If any of you need WDW advice I'd be glad to reciprocate.

#1, 2 & 3---BLUE BAYOU!!! Say it, memorize it, gets ressies for it!!!

Concentrate on the strictly DL-type places. The Vineyard in DCA, for example. Avoid the Disney "standards", which (IMO) include all character meals except Ariel's Grotto, which is so nice and diff on the water.

for breakfast 2 places...Riverbelle Terrace and Plaza Inn character breakfast

bengal bbq...corn dog from the red wagon and mickey pretzel with cheese yum!!

My top 3 favorites and then some:
1. Blue Bayou evening reservations (waterside table)for sure

2. Corn dog from the red wagon, and mickey shaped pretzel and ice cream treat and churros.

3. Burger from Taste Pilots Grill in California Adventure

4. Breakfast at Riverbelle Terrace (if you get there right at park opening you don't have to make a reservation)

5. Plaza Inn

the GUmbos at french market is really good... thats all i can really suggest.

Thanks everyone. I think Patti's sugestion of concentrating on the places special to DL make sense. I mean I can get a fab burger with loads of fixins at Pecos Bills in Frontierland anytime at WDW. Blue Bayou is definately on the list (several times ) Riverbelle terrece looks great and I'm definately trying a corn dog from the red wagon and a Tiggers tail.

Riverbelle Terrace doesn't take reservations--it's a QSR.

For our March trip, I had DL planning make Blue Bayou, Ariel's, Goofy's, Plaza, and Lilo & Stitch, and Storytellers for me. It seems DL has a lot more great nonADR choices that aren't all burger/hotdog places than WDW does. At WDW, I usually book all TS restaurants for L and D, but for our DL trip I just booked one TS a day. Too many yummy sounding choices!

ITA!!! Blue Bayou is a must. I mean you can't beat the location I even think I'm going to try to fit in in twice Ralph Brennen's also seems like a great choice. I went to the one in NOLA a million years ago BC (before children ). I just wish FanatsMic was playing I would have loved to do the Dessert Buffet. We usually only do one TS a day also , it looks like we think alike your list looks pretty identical to mine.

That sure does look cute! That restaurant doesn't take advanced ressies, does it? Is it a long wait?? Is lunch or dinner a better choice?

We have never eaten there, but it is my understanding you MUST make reservations to get in. I still need to do this, thanks for reminding me

Blue Bayou all the way! Goofy's Kitchen and Ariel's Grotto is good too. Oooh and also Storyteller's has a good dinner buffet. Ah, now I'm drooling just thinking of Blue Bayou's prime rib!

River Belle for breakfast.. love being there in the morning and watching the park come to life.
Rancho Zocalo for lunch
Plaza Inn for chicken dinner- wowza! Huge servings and ohhh so yummy.

OR
hot chocolate and something to nibble on from White Water Snacks, walk to the outdoor fireplace at the Grand.. go early a.m. before parks open, warm and peaceful.

White water Snacks for lunch- the chicken sandwhich with the chili pepper and cheese is very good. Eat outside and listen to people having fun in DCA, maybe see a cat to feed morsels of your meal .

Walk to HoJo's and stop for a meal at Mimi's, corn chowder... inexpensive and filling meal.

If you haven't yet, you should check out the food thread it makes you hungry but you'll get a sense of what food goes with what restaurant and the quality.

how far in advance do I need to make reservations for Blue Bayou? Is it like WDW where I make them 180 days in advance? Or less hard core?

The trip will be in August.

We made ours about 20 days in advance and they still had plenty of room but I believe you can book up to 60 days in advance.
