Top 5 Las Vegas activities

I'm going to include some close-to-vegas attractions as I feel they merit a visit.

1. Hoover Dam - you have to see it at least once
2. Red Rock Canyon - about 20 minutes away, and a world apart, absolutely gorgeous
3. Dueling Pianos - I love the ones at Paris and at NYNY
4. Bellagio Fountains
5. Shopping! Canal Shops at the Venetian, Desert Passage, Fashion Show Mall, and The Forum Shops.

If you ever have the chance, go see the KA show at the MGM. It is an absolutely unbelievable show, even better than O.

Depends on who I'm with...

With my daughter

Hanging out at the pool
Shopping at the Fashion Show and Forum shops
Mirage dolphin and tiger exhibit
Bellagio Fountains
Driving around my old neighborhood in amazement at how its grown (I lived in Green Valley while attending UNLV)

With friends

Playing craps and drinking the free watered down drinks
Downtown to see the light show on Fremont
Shopping at the Fashion Show and Forum Shops
Walking around at midnight taking in the sights
Slow paced walking through the hotels, The Wynn and Bellagio are especially spectacular

I also want to plug the Hofbrahaus for dining and drinking :drinking1 , it is across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel and its a replica of the original in Germany. I went last December with friends and it was just a lot of fun. Something I wouldn't bring my daughter to though.

One of my favorite things to do with my DD (which didn't make my personal list....butshe loves it) is the "Mideval times" type dinner show at the Excalibur . It is the typical dinner show(eat with your hands) with the competing knights on horseback.....but they have some good effect and it is done well.

Since I visit Las Vegas four times a month on business, here's my favorites:

1) Bellagio Hotel/Casino (Love their gaming tables)
2) NASCAR Casino near Sands Hotel
3) Mt. Charleston Ski Resort (in the summer, the cool breezes is awesome)
4) Studio 54 (MGM Grand Hotel/Casino)
5) Palms Hotel/Casino

I love to party!

I dont gamble but would like to see Las Vegas at some point - I would like to see the White tigers and the beautiful hotels. I have heard from work colleagues there are many hookers theIr which puts me off as I live in an area where I never come into contact with hookers.

You will not see any visible hookers in the Las Vegas area, at least, not anywhere on "the Strip." Prostitution is illegal in Clark County, and taken pretty seriously in the Las Vegas area. There are certainly lots of topless reviews and strip clubs, and outside of Clark County you can find an occasional legal brothel (!).

If you stay on the Strip where the resort hotels are (and this is a BIG area) you will not have any problem at all.

That said, Las Vegas is moving a bit away from the family themes and back to the more adult themes.

There are so many beautiful hotels to visit. Each one is a destination in itself, with beautiful grounds and attractions depending on what you like to do / see.

My Top 5:

1) Mystere - not to be missed
2) Fountains at the Bellagio
3) KA
4) O
5) touring the various hotels

(I'm a Cirque fan, can you tell?)

1. KA
2. Elton John's "The Red Piano"
3. Fountain Bar at Bellagio
4. Dueling Pianos at NYNY
5. Fine Art Gallery at Bellagio

-eating hotdogs and shrimp cocktails downtown in the middle of the night
-Sudio 54 and dancing all night
-drinking in the dim lounges (pick a lounge any lounge) watching the lounge acts and dogding the lounge lizzards.
-Bellagio fountains
-walking casino to casino and doing a bar crawl

Old lady of a 'certain age' here, Just back from Vegas. I didn't see any 'hookers' and I was LOOKING for them, just so's I could say I saw one! I also collected all the advertising cards sleazy guys were handing out on the street, lol. One less piece to litter the ground.

Favorites:
*Lunch at Mon Ami Gabi in Paris, window table overlooking the Bellagio fountains
*Shopping, especially Caesers and Desert passage
*sightseeing - I burned through three cds of photos in 3 days
*people watching - VERY interesting

Can't WAIT to go back - for me Vegas had a lot of the things I love about Walt Disney World - and they aren't "cheaping out" like Disney. They've spent the money to do "whatever" - right.

1) Bellagio--fountain and conservatory
2) Downtown's Fremont Experience
3) The white tigers
4) Laying around the pool with drinks (tropicana is one favorite)
6) Playing blackjack and craps

Order doubles (Ie. double Rum & coke). Or, order a shot of alcohol on the side (Ie. A coke with a shot of rum on the side). I order a double Bailey's and hot chocolate, and honey, you can TASTE it!!! :drinking1

Look for the hookers around Paradise St and downtown side streets......if you need one badly go to Parhump they are legal and very expensive there!
Unfortunatly I have seen them many times and last time with a car load of my sons and thier friends!

We just had lunch there a couple of weeks ago and it was oh, so lovely and romantic. And delicious, too!

1. Sit at "The Mix" at the top of MB and have a drink. View is probably one of the best I've ever seen anywhere.

2. Sit at the Voodoo Lounge and have a drink. View is right up there with the Mix. (can you see a pattern developing here? sitting and drinking??)

3. Do "The Drive" from GM at the Sahara

4. Pig out at the nicer buffets. Not Lady Luck or Excalibur..I'm talking MB, Wynn etc. I love seafood and rarely get it since my wife hates it, so its a definate treat for me to have platefulls of crab legs, etc.

5. Sleep in late, and then stay out till the sun comes up bar and club hopping.

Gunna add one more...

6. Golfing - while it is very expensive to play in LV and most are overpriced for what they are...theres something about golfing in the desert thats so different from what its like here in Seattle.

Here are my Top 5.

1. See the Bellagio fountains. A must-see everytime. I love them and the music!

2. The Forum shops! I love to shop there. Well, mainly window shop as some of that stuff would take me 20 years to afford!! LOL Oh, and get some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.

3. Ride up in the Eiffel tower and the Stratospere. Love the view!

4. See a show. Any show. Doesn't matter if it's classy or cheesy, we must see one show per trip.

5. The Rio! I love the Rio buffet and their Show in the Sky.

Just got back yesterday from my first trip to Vegas. I have to say, it's the first trip I've been on when I couldn't wait to go home (way too smoky for me), but there were still parts that were very enjoyable.

Just adding two things I really enjoyed to the list of favorites:

1. Danny Gans show --he was extremely talented and very funny. Probably the best hour and a half of my entire trip.

2. Tao restaurant/nightclub. The best Asian food I've tasted anywhere. Very expensive, and worth every penny!
