1. Saw him in Houston in 1986. There were two huge speakers on either side of the stage. He kept jumping up on one for a few minutes, then jumping down, running across stage and jumping up on the other.
During "Hurts so Good", as he was running back and forth, he tripped and fell flat on his face. Band just kept playing refrain for a few minutes... He stumbled to his feet, said "That didn't hurt so good, I'm going to get high, be back in a few."
Ten minutes later, he came back out, started "Hurts so Good" from the beginning and finished the show.
2. San Francisco 1989. Intermission waiting in 10 deep line for urinal. I'm next up. Girl taps my shoulder (in the men's room), says, "I really gotta go, can I cut?" It's a urinal. I say, "Sure".
She drops her drawers to her ankles, backs up to the urinal and goes. That'll make a permanent impression on a 19 yr old boy...
3. 2010, The Woodlands, TX: John Mellencamp and John Fogerty. Came to see the former. He sang and sounded tired. But. Fogerty put on a helluva show. I was very impressed.
Fogerty and Mellencamp sang "Little Pink Houses" together.
