Top 5 Disney World Resorts to stay at with little ones

Their list is pretty good. My top five:

1. Bay Lake Tower/ Contemporary
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge
3. Wilderness Lodge
4. Port Orleans Riverside
5. Art of Animation

Each for different reasons, like transportation/monorail, the animals at AK, the boat at WL the atmosphere at POR or the fun animation and family rooms at POP.

I went to the contemporary with my kids and didn't enjoy the experience. I tried to find kid activities but it was the end of the mounth and they gave me the wrong calendar and I ran around for an hour trying to find it and never did. With that said... the arcade in the building is nice, the cheek mickey's for breakfast is nice. Fireworks from the balcony is nice. Walking to MK is nice. It's a nicer arcade or atleast it felt more fun then other resort ones we've been to. Going down the elevator in your PJs at 9pm to play games is kinda fun (for the kids I mean hah)

I think it depends on how "little" we are talking. If we are talking the stroller/go back to the room for naps age, then any of the MK or Epcot resorts are best. The rooms are large and you can do not have to fold your stroller for 2 parks each (boats and monorails do not require folding) so if little ones fall asleep you don't have to disturb them to get on a bus. As they get a bit older, the pools (can't beat Yacht and Beach) and arcade do come into play. It also depends on your touring style. If you spend a lot of time at the resort, Fort Wilderness has tons of things to do right out your back door.
