Toothache BUT no cavity

I had a couple of sensitive areas. At the suggestion of my dentitst, I am now a reformed tooth grinder - a REALLY bad habit. Once I stopped, so did the pain.

So I went to the dentist this morning:sad1:and after X-rays and testing there was NOTHING that dentist could physically see. But he put the cold stuff on it and i thought I would jump out of the chair, it zinged. So we decided on a root canal :confused3 Problem is 2 of the teeth were sensitive but one just slightly more than the other.

So root canal is complete and I go back next week for my crown. I am praying this works and fixes it...Have I told you how much I hate teeth :rotfl2: I need to keep the humor because right now my mouth is throbbing...

So lets recap, Monday I had 2 cyst taken off my big toe, and on today I had a root canal. I can honestly say I am falling apart from head to toe....

So I responded when you first posted this, and guess what? Today, I started having sensitivity on my right upper side. Grrr. I *think* I have a crown on that side--- I honestly forget which teeth are crowned- I have so many! I am going to buy some Sensodyne and keep an eye on it. It's so weird, it happened right out of the blue :(

I hate teeth too! :thumbsup2

Well had the root canal last Friday. Saturday it was fine but Sunday :scared1:PAIN! So today Monday I went to the dentist. The girl who escorts you in and is like dentist assistant is telling me i should feel nothing, the root is gone, and dentist will probably send me out to a specialist. I am feeling anger at this point and stupid because I KNOW I have pain and I am feeling like no one believes. I couldn't even bite on that side. So dentist comes in and he says well we knew it was a 50-50 chance between the 2 teeth, then he has me bite down on something and he says well it is the root canal tooth that is bothering me from the way I am biting and he files it down a bit. Then he says he is switching me from Amoxicillan to Clindamycin. Says this should do it and give it a week with pain. If still persists call him...

A few years back I had a root canal and still had pain. I eventually had it pulled, and when it was pulled the oral surgeon told me there was a microscopic crack and that definitely could've been what was causing me problems....Again I HATE my teeth!!!

I am supposed to go and get this crown put on Thursday, but I want to wait a week or so, to make sure this goes away. Because if I have to get this pulled I am not paying for a 500.00 plus crown....

At this point I don't even know what pain was worse, before or now???

Here is hoping tomorrow is a WAY better day...:wizard:

I had that happen recently too- root canal didn't help at all-they said I should not be feeling pain since the root is gone but I sure as heck felt pain! Ended up having it pulled and an implant done so it was 300 for the root canal, 150 to pull it and 2500 for the implant.

They can miss roots canals when they do a root canal. I'm still not sure you even needed one especially when he wasn't sure of which tooth. Did you have a dentist or endodontist do the root canal? When the cold really zinged you was it quick or long lasting? I guess it doesn't matter now since you already had it done. Anyway, if you are still in pain I would go to an endodontist to have it further evaluated.

I have had toothaches without related cavities twice in the past 10 years and I went to the chiropractor both times and had my neck adjusted. Worked both times. I know some people will think this is a crazy suggestion but it worked and is much cheaper and less painful than a root canal. Good luck!

This just happened to me about 3 weeks ago! I had a chiro appt. anyway for my back. I mentioned my tooth pain to her thinking there was nothing she could do for it. She said it was my jaw. She adjusted it, and within a couple of days I was pain free! I really thought I was going to need a root canal. My tooth hurt really bad. I was skeptical when she said she could fix it. I even came home and told my husband that I doubted it would work. It was really strange. :confused3

I know your pain, Ive got a wisdom tooth comming down in the center of my gums, a cracked tooth and one tooth with phantom pain after eating. They cant figure out why either!
