Tooth Sensitivity?

I don't know if it's the barometric pressure, allergies and sinus, or what, but every once in a while for YEARS, I get the absolute WORST tooth sensitivity on the bottom right side of my mouth.

It doesn't feel as though it's coming from one tooth per se, as I feel sensitivity if I press pretty much every tooth on that side with my tongue; and it has never been worse than the time before, or gotten worse as time progresses.

Does anyone else get this?

Go to your dentist. I was having sensitivity on the top. He sprayed some air on each tooth and immediately we knew which one it was. I just had to have it pulled today. Hopefully yours will be an easier fix...cavity, root canal.

I have tooth senstitivity, top left. I have two crowns, two root canals, and no explanation! It comes and goes, and it's only sensitive to hot. My dentist couldn't find a problem, and he sent me to one of the top endodontists in the area (he teaches at U of Penn) and he couldn't find anything either. It will hurt for weeks, and then, all of a sudden, it stops.

My teeth are a mess! You'd never know it to look at me, because they look pretty good! But I'm full of crowns, root canals, and problems!:headache:

Meg, when you say your tooth is sensitive, do you mean to temperatures? If so, that probably means you need a root canal. I have had a few root canals. The procedure is no worse than getting a filling. It's the pain that leads up to needing the procedure that is so awful. I am actually scheduled for another one later this month. In the meantime, the doctor has prescribed a painkiller to help me cope. The reason it feels to you like more than one tooth is having a problem is because of the way the nerve system is connected.

My teeth aren't great, I have several root canals and crowns.

I had the same thing about a month ago - one tooth was particularly sensitive to cold. I thought "oh, no here I go again. Another root canal." But I waited and it actually stopped reacting to cold and it is back to being fine now. I had some discomfort with my teeth earlier in the year, started taking antihistamine for allergies and the pain went away - I'm assuming sinus pressure from the allergies was building and pressing down toward the teeth, resulting in the general tooth pain.

You say yours comes and goes. If the dentist can't find anything, I wouldn't just go ahead and have the root canal. It could be from something else.

It definitely could be sinus pressure. DH thought for sure he had some bad teeth because his was hurting so bad. We went to the dentist and he said call your doctor and get some sinus medicine--Your teeth are fine!

Good luck!
