Dd has a loose 1st tooth. What is the going rate for the first one these days??

I always give $2 per tooth, (even the first tooth because $2 to them is alot of money) unless it had to be pulled out by the dentist, then they get $5.

Best bet is to check w/ your neighbors. Our neighbors (who have twins the same age as my DD) weren't too happy when DD came over and showed them the $20 she found under her piilow. :teeth:

Wow. I think the going rate around here is about $1 or $1.50. When I lost my first tooth 12 years ago, I got a quarter.

So you are the one!

My DD still talks three teeth later about all the quarters- 8 of them that she got in an envelope with fairy dust and lipstick kisses on it!

Oh yeah and congrats on the milestone!

she will be 7 in Sept and most of her friends have already lost some. She is thrilled. I found a big plastic glow in the dark tooth for the tooth to go in for the tooth fairy a few weeks ago. there is a special comp. for the tooth as well as a clip for the money!!

We.... uh, ...... I mean our tooth fairy........ pays $20 for the first tooth, $10 for the second and $5 for every one after that.

I figure the money goes in their savings, so what the heck! :)

Going rate is a buck here! Must be the higher cost of living in the cities!

(I remember it going from a dime to a quarter!)

$2 to $3 -- now that the teeth have slowed down we sometimes give $5 (especially if we have forgotten for several nights in a row!!) - oh the tooth fairy guilt.

$1 maybe $2 if the tooth fairy is feeling generous.

Watch out for the dolphin/shark fishing captains at Hilton Head - they told my son his tooth was worth $20 on HHI. He pryed the tooth out of his head - then proceeded to drop it into the garbage disposal. The tooth fairy still brought $2 NOT $20.

We give a dollar or 2 depends on what we have around for changfe never more than 2 bucks though.

Please. Allow me to regale you with our Tooth Faerie trials and tribulations.

DS's first tooth--lost at dinner the night he was heading to Nana and Gramps' for a sleepover, since DH and I were getting on a plane to Las Vegas for a friends wedding. $5

DS's second tooth--it seems that when I was washing his face, he opened his mouth, the tooth got caught on the face cloth, and I yanked it out. $5 for Tooth Faerie guilt. He STILL tells people I 'punched' out his tooth. :rotfl:

Next two teeth fell out on the same day. Once in the morning, and once in his sleep in the car on the way home from a birthday party. That one he swallowed!! :faint: Total for 2 teeth, although one was missing: $6

And lastly, it fell out, we found it, left it for the Tooth Faerie and she left him $2.

And he still has a TON to go.

We, the tooth fairy's helpers, did $5 for the first one and a dollar or two for each additional. My daughter didn't care how much she got as long as there was something under her pillow in the AM.

I don't know what she does for the first tooth, but I know the tooth fairy leaves my nieces a golden dollar per tooth. They are thrilled!

I always got 25 cents... one time when "the Tooth Fairy's" were out for the night, my brother forgot to them them I had lost a tooth... how disappointed was I in the morning!!! but I got 50 cents the next night.

My daughter got $2 a tooth... she still has a few baby teeth left (she's 26!!) So I guess, I still have to save some dollars huh??!!

This is such a relief!!I know a couple years ago there was a thread like this and the tooth fairy was giving out $10-$20 for the first tooth!!!. Good to know I dont have to take out a loan to do this!!

$5 a tooth. I hadn't heard her giving less with each tooth until after tooth #2 had fallen out and the tooth fairy had come by again! ;) As for the first tooth, that's all Mrs. Tooth Fairy had at 11pm on a school night with Mr. Tooth Fairy out of town! :teeth: Glad she had something, cause sometimes she doesn't carry cash at all!

$1 gold coin for my DDs.

When I was a kid, it was a Quarter.

I cannot believe some of the amounts kids get!:earseek:
