Heard this rumor today from another Disney fan site. Anybody know anything about this one? Toontown has always been a favorite of ours, and now it's pure nostalgia for my almost grown kiddos.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Anybody in the know out there??

We've always enjoyed ToonTown.
It's nice to have ToonTown in addition to Fantasyland for the younger Disney fans.
When the grandkids were really little, they liked to spend hours wandering through all ToonTown has to offer.
Even thought they are older now, they still like to play around there.

I'd like to see ToonTown stay.....

I like Toon Town too....but Star Wars land? I'd personally pull the trigger on the Death Star's Galaxy Gun and watch Toon Town turn to dust for a chance at Star Wars Land!!!! :ewok:

:lmao: I'm sure a lot of us feel that way!

Let's not panic. Maybe they'll move Roger Rabbit to Fantasyland and open up some space along Big Thunder Trail for some of the cuter ToonTown attractions.

Please level Innoventions to the ground, and replace it with Star wars. I never could understand what Innoventions was doing at DL.

I don't like Toontown and would be happy to see it replaced. My kids never even liked it.

However, the idea of replacing it with a non-Disney theme doesn't sit well with me, either. Put SW in the Innoventions place--that's brilliant. I think lots of people would love something SW, but I don't like it getting its own land

I also don't like making entire lands out of one movie, not even Carsland. I prefer a themed area that could utilize many different things.

id rather they replace toontown with marvel land, and just add some star wars stuff to Innoventions and tomorrow land.

Love the Star Wars where Innoventions is now idea. It would fit perfectly on the outskirts of Tomorrowland. :thumbsup2

My kids adored ToonTown when they were little.

I really really hope that's just some wild rumor and not even close to being true :( I don't know how they could get rid of Toon Town when it's literally the home of the Mouse himself! I agree with a PP who said they don't really care for when an entire land is based around a single film or idea, rather than it being more broad and all inclusive. It would also make more sense if they added Star Wars related things where Innoventions or even AutoTopia (since we have Carsland now I don't really think this ride is all that necessary anymore) is, as it's right by Tomorrowland and everything would still be tied together. Getting rid of Toon Town feels like it's stripping the entire park of it's roots.

I love Star Wars. Seen them the movies too many times and have contributed too much money to George Lucas' wallet. That being said, please no Star Wars land. Especially at the cost of MM's house. If anything, turn the area into the clubhouse theme.

That seems odd that there would be consideration to create a separate Star Wars land when there is already a Star Wars ride in Tomorrowland and that dead space that is Innoventions. (sorry Innoventions...)

I don't have any particular love for Toontown. The only thing I really do there is Roger Rabbit; though a lot of that has to do with how hot and shadeless that land is.

But I think it is special in that it provides a "home base" for some original Disney characters and is great for the littlest ones to have a spot for them. Even though I don't visit often it would be sad to lose it.

Do you have a link to the site? I'm curious where it's coming from.

My thoughts exactly... If they wanted to do something in ToonTown that was awesome - how about constructing a large, multi-tiered stretched horizontal sails to provide canopy covering - 40-60 ft above the asphalt.

As far as 'Star Wars' Land, that should be kept in Tomorrowland. How about just showing the movies in the Capt EO theatre, over and over... I really wouldn't want to see too much dedicated to the Star Wars franchise.

I've seen this rumor on a couple different sites but I can't see it happening for one simple reason, this area has to close early for fireworks.

It's one thing to close a (mostly) kids area early but if they put Star Wars land back there it would be chaos every night for the CM's trying to clear the area.

It's just my personal opinion but I'd be shocked if this were true.

I too would hate to see Star Wars take over ToonTown, for two main reasons:

1) Where would Mickey live? WDW already got rid of his summer home, thanks to eminent domain. Now all he has is a tent. There is so little in any of the parks on either coast dedicated to the mouse that started it all and his closest friends, and the princesses keep managing to acquire new properties. I know ToonTown is not an original land, but I love it. It just dearly needs a bit of a refurb. Remember when the trolley ran and you could bounce in Goofy's house? I don't need the same things, but something to liven the place up would be nice. Or a coat of paint.

2) Strong rumors have Star Wars land coming to Hollywood Studios. If it is there, we don't need it here. When the rumors were flying about Carsland going to Florida I was opposed to that too. What would be the point of visiting the other coast if everything is the same. I can get to Anaheim for a lot less and stay a shorter time. If Disney wants all or most of my vacation money it has to be worth my while. Yes, DLR needs a new Star Wars attraction or two, but not a whole land. Innoventions and the Captain EO theater would be excellent options. With all the talent they have in Imagineering, the homogenization of the parks is silly.

I also don't like making entire lands out of one movie, not even Carsland. I prefer a themed area that could utilize many different things.

I felt the same way and wasn't even a big fan of the Cars movie, but once I saw Carsland I was very impressed...and it seems like a big success.

True, Star Wars is not an original Disney product and was only recently purchased by Disney, but it has had a presence in DL for 25 years now. As hugely popular as Star Wars is, I think a Star Wars Land could be a huge success. If Disney Imagineers can pull of with Star Wars Land what they pulled of with Carsland, imagine the number of people (kids and adults) who would love to be in a land that made it seem like you were actually in the world of Star Wars.

I'll just say that even though I have absolutely no taste for Toontown, I'm not sure I like the idea of a Star Wars land... The ride is already so cool, and they have the Jedi training academy and everything... it almost seems a bit redundant. With Cars Land, they didn't have anything else already based on Cars so that was a little different...
They could maybe do some updates and refurb on Toontown instead. Even though my family never goes there because we're all older, I do think it would be kind of a shame to get rid of it entirely in favor of something that 1) Disney just bought recently and 2) already has its own (super cool amazingly themed) ride and show.

Agreed! I think there is a lot of potential with a Star Wars land! Our family would personally love to see it happen. We are also not big fans of toon town. However, I have a hard time with the placement of Star Wars in the toon town area. It really would seem odd considering that its already present in Tomorrowland. Is it weird to have Star Tours separate from a Star Wars land? Or maybe I am over thinking it!
