Hi Neighbors!

I just bought 200 points at SSR. I'm so excited I'm already trying to plan trips and maximize my point usage.

I was just wondering if anyone has used points for non-Disney locations? And how the accomadations were.

I was at WDW Feb 11-16 at AKL and basically had made up my mind before even going down....When I saw how beautiful the rooms were I was really sold. My 2 nephews ( 4 & 6) went on the tour with me and they really loved it. They wanted to know if I bought the "big" (GV) Mickey house.

I think my closing is in June sometime and won't have points available until August. I will be down there the 1st week of May. Does anyone know if DVC members get discounts to book rooms at SSR?

Can't wait to start using my points. :bounce:

Congratulations on your purchase. DVC members can get a 25% discount on cash rates at DVC resorts like SSR. There are no DVC discounts on non DVC resorts.

Have fun planning.

Welcome home! My wife and I have a "move in date" at the same time, but will be there in October (note ticker below :hyper: )

If you are going to be at Disney enough, your DVC Temp member card will allow you to buy the Annual Pass at the DVC discount ($314.18 w/tax, $100 off). You can then get the AP hotel dicounts which are significant (40-50% off?) http://www.mousesavers.com/annualpass.html .

Just thought I would mention this. Have a great stay!

Thanks Everyone!!!

I'm not sure what I will do yet for my trip in May, checking out my options. I have a feeling my Delta Frequent flyer miles will really start to accumulate this year.

Hi,

Congrats!!!! Welcome home!!

It is too bad that DVC continues to emphasize how cool it is to be able to use points at non-DVC resorts and DCL... Truth of the matter is, doing that more than once in a while is an expensive use of points. I hope you bought at SSR because you want to stay at SSR first and foremost.

Congratulations...enjoy your membership,as for me I never did or will use my points outside of WDW. :cheer2:

I wonder if they are going to offer any other discounts for april 16th on.. My bet ,probably not with all the stuff for the big party starting may 5th.

Glad I am not a betting person.. Good to see they made me stick my foot in my mouth .. lol :teeth:

Welcome to the DVC family :earsboy:
Couldn't agree more with the comment about not usingpoints outside a DVC resort. I did a few years back at a concierge collection place in San Francisco called the Petite Auberge and when I found out that Disney was paying only $139 a night for my 25 points per night, I realized it was a poor use of points, not to mention that the place was so small and shabby, I (and apparently so many others) complained so much that although Disney refused to return any of my points, Disney removed it from their concierge list. If you're thinking about using points elsewhere, call the hotel/resort on your own and ask for a price per night. It will help you figure what your points will be costing you.

Thanks for the advice about using points outside of Disney!!

What Big party is going on May 5? Did I miss something?
