Took our first trip as owners - loved the Poly!

We bought resale at BLT, closed in Nov. It came with 2014 points that we'd planned to rent, haha yeah right - a week into ownership I decided we would use them instead. We booked a last minute trip to see Osbourne Lights during marathon week. Surprisingly I was able to find 3 nights at Poly, and then my wait list for the last 2 nights came through with 2 weeks to spare!

I've been going to Disney for 35 years, have stayed at several of their properties, but never the Poly. I can't believe what we were missing. What a lovely resort! There's no comparison to BLT in theming. The staff is top notch. If it had 1 and (reasonable) 2 br villas it would be perfect. I thought the studios were nice but felt cramped with all our gear (2 kids under 4).

I'm a little sad I own at BLT (not sad enough to have paid an extra $50+/point though!). We've stayed at BLT twice on my parent's points, so we didn't buy sight unseen. I still like the location, and the fact that it has 2 bedroom villas (we often share a room with my parents). I just wish it didn't feel like a Marriott.

I read in another thread that the 3 buildings they converted at the Poly were the only buildings that would allow for renovations structurally, so I suppose it's safe to assume DVC will never expand with 1 and 2 br options there?

I think I'll have to keep my eye on resales...maybe we'll add on...someday.

Yeah, that's why I snuck "(reasonable)" in front of 2 Br. I would not use my points for those!

The other buildings at Poly were built like the Contemporary was, with modular construction and the rooms assembled as units and put into the frame. I don't think they can modify the rooms in those buildings in any substantial way. They would need to be able to build a new building, much as BLT was a new building.
