I took a little solo trip this past Friday and Saturday. I flew in to LGB and landed about 9:15. I grabbed a Lyft and headed straight to the park. Security was pretty light it was around 10:15am. I only packed a backpack so I headed to the lockers next to DCA. After dropping my stuff off I noticed a longer line for DL and no line for DCA. So I went in to DCA and immediately went out. Now I was able to get my Maxpass for the HM. 10 min wait to get my picture taken in front of the Mickey Floral, another 10 min wait to get my picture in front of the Mickey Pumpkin. Headed up main St and noticed most of the scrims were down. Last time (3 weeks ago) there were a few up. Like I said the crowds were light and I was able to get Fastpass after Fastpass. Around 1:00 I headed over to DCA the crowds there seemed light as well. I wanted to make sure to get a Fastpass for monsters after dark so around 3:30 I was finally able to grab one for 7:00pm. From 1:00pm to 3:30pm I rode just about everything. The hard Fastpass to get was TSMM. Radiator Springs racer I just rode single rider and it only took 5 min. Oh speaking of single rider. Space mountains single rider line is fantastic. I never waited longer than 2 minutes and no stairs or ramps!.

I left and took a break at 3:30 so I could check in to my Hotel. The Hyatt Place on Harbor. This is the second time I'd stayed here and it works out just fine. The breakfast is simple yet good. Last time we were here we bought a 5 day ART bus from Getaway for $15.00 and it worked out perfect. This time when I was headed back over I used the Toy Story Lot Shuttle. This took quit awhile, There were about 250 people in line and the bus route is longer than ART so the next time I took ART and just paid the $3.00.

I got back to DCA around 5:30. I so wanted to go to the Halloween party but it was sold out. I grabbed a few fastpasses for Soarin and the Incredicoaster. Grabbed a Margarita and it was about time to ride Monsters after dark. On the way over from Pixar Pier I could tell the crowds were moving over from Disneyland. WOW did it get crowded quick! Waves and waves of people flowing through the entrance.
It took awhile to get through the Fastpass queue. This was my first time experiencing monsters after dark. The regular wait time said 90min. It probably took me 25 minutes in the Fastpass line. I sure do love this change. I thought it was a lot of fun. The way they change the videos up and the music was great.

After that ride I kind of wandered around a bit but it was getting SO crowded. So I decided to bail to my hotel. When I got to my hotel I was able to get a 2:20pm reservation for the Carnation Café.

Then next morning I ate packed all my stuff up and was on the ART bus by 7:45am. It was so much faster than Pixar parking. The security lines where light again. It took maybe 5 minutes to get through. Dropped my bag off like before and headed to Disneyland. Crowds were light and I rode everything but Peter Pan. I love that ride but I hate the queue and 45 minutes is just to long for me. I took a ton of pictures with a lot the characters including Darth Vader and Rey. The Carnation Café was great as usual. The fried pickles and Chicken fried chicken are to die for. I watched the Pixar Play Parade from the train station and that was a fun spot to see it. On my way out at 4:45pm I grabbed a picture with Cinderella. I had an 8:00pm flight out of LAX so I wanted to be out where Lyft picks you up by 5:00pm I hate LAX and traffic is usually awful. This time everything worked out good and I was in the airport by 6:15.

Overall it was a great trip. This is the 3rd time I've gone solo and the weirdest part is going 2 days without really talking to anyone. It's really kind of strange.
Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing! You managed to fit in quite a bit in a short time. I've been thinking about a quick, one-night trip, and it's great to hear how that might work out.

We were also there Friday. We arrived around noon and both DCA and DL were great, by 6pm the crowds in DCA were crazy, I personally have never been to DCA when it has been that crowded. We were able to ride MAD which was fantastic as usual, and actually got front row parade viewing less than 30 minutes before the parade as they were converting the lower mermaid line to parade viewing right as we arrived, it filled in fast. We bailed on DCA early too, we were going to stay until close but it was just way too crowded. We just got back last night and had a great trip, but I would not go on a Friday party night again, unless I was going for the party, it was just too crowded, especially with the bugs land area being closed so you couldn't cut between the lands on that side as easily.
