Too old for an autograph book?

I'm a 20-something going to WDW in about 2 weeks for my Disneymoon  My DH to be and I are both getting autograph books. I didn't get one when I went last time (which was my first trip and when I got engaged) because I thought I would look silly, and I regret it sometimes.

Adding to the list of adults with autograph books - I was 25 on my last trip and filled mine, will be 26 for this trip and buying one the second we find a Disney gift shop!

I think asking for autographs is a great form of interaction - after waiting in line to see a character I often find myself getting tongue-tied and having no idea what to say. I guess I get a little starstruck, which seems bizarre, but I grew up with Donald Duck, he's a total celebrity to me! :rotfl: So asking for a signature is a great way to break the ice, plus I love seeing the way each character signs their name.

When I took my DD4 on our very first trip I purchased a collection of princess story books before we left. They were thin and lightweight, and I carried them in my backpack each day with a few colored sharpies. Eventually, we got autographs from each of the princesses. But instead of signing a blank page in an autograph book, they each got the cover page of their own storybook to sign! We then snapped a photo, and affixed it under the signature with clear contact paper. DD4 is now DD8 and theses books, with a personal autograph and picture, are her most prized possessions. We're now about to make our first trip with DD2 in tow and we can't wait to start her collection too!

Everyone keep one thing in mind: You're NEVER too old for just about anything at WDW.

I'm 25, I just returned from my 1st WDW trip and filled the standard photo & autograph book, plus I had the characters sign a T-shirt. I really had fun doing it and didn't feel out of place. Actually I started doing this one year ago when I was at Disneyland. I had one of their photos & autograph books. Guess what? I filled that easily in the 2 days I was there, loved it and decided to do it again this year.

So just do it:thumbsup2

Last time I was at DW, I bought an autograph book and got as many as I could and I was in my 20s. It's all part of the fun and you could always claim it's for a neice, nephew, grandchild etc if you're embarrassed about it!

Will get another book when I'm over there again in January and I'm planning on getting as many pics as possible with the characters......big kid at heart ;)

not at all! I am much older and still enjoy meeting the characters. Go for it and have a blast!

I am bringing a messenger bag for the characters to sign....of course when I use it back home....most people will not know that it is from Disney, and I can use it to remind me of the trip! I am 43!

I make my own book and carry the pages to the parks & I am 61.:lmao: Been doing it for years. :goodvibes Penny

If you were a boy, you'd look silly.

I don't agree with this at all. I don't think it matters if you are a boy or a girl. If someone wants autographs they should get them regardless of age or sex! I certainly wouldn't judge anyone standing in line for autographs.

My daughter was 16 on our trip last year and she couldn't wait to get her autograph book as soon as we got to MK the first day. When I told her we were going back to Disney world this year the first thing she did was find her autograph book and put it in her carry on bag. That was back in september. being 17 and planning for college and all the excitement surrounding being a senior in high school all she talks about is this upcoming trip to disney.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I was going to do the autographs, but all the photopass pics I have were just fine, plus the ones my wife and I took of each other when no PP around.

Now to the OP... To those of us who 'get' disney in our climbing ages, we dont see anything at all 'goofy' pardon the pun about it. Now, you at 16 y.o. MAY feel different, but hopefully you does it, and trust me, I bet in xx years when you may have your own family, or even if you dont, you will look at that book, and TREASURE it. It is true that when you are young you do take things for granted, only when you get 'old and wise' do you realize what your parents were doing when they made you do all the 'goofy' stuff (again sorry about the pun ;))

edit BAH: reading comprehension wasnt my best class is skool ;) fixed it to read more directly to the OP, not to the OP's parents like I had initally ;)

I'm 42 and was so excited the day I got Thumper's autograph. I was just giddy! I don't care what everyone thinks. My boys don't want the same characters I do, so I got my own. Even got Jiminy Cricket at Rafiki's! That was a shocker!

I'm 33 and I love getting in line and getting the characters autographs and pictures.... I think they are great memories of all the trips I have made and will continue to make to the happiest place on earth.....:cheer2:

I don't think you're ever too old to get autographs (too young, yes, because little kids would rather not wait on line and don't seem to care about them -- pictures would be better, or just a hug :) )

But maybe, if you've done the autograph thing several times, it becomes much less exciting.

I often think the parents get just as much out of getting the autographs as the kids do.

I didn't get one on my first trip either (at 20) and highly regret it, we take one or buy one on every trip since. Sometimes I make our own (like for our Christmas or Halloween visits) and sometimes we buy one, we have a nice collection and our kids love looking at them and comparing them to thier own books. They are so jealous of my mad charector finding skills. shhh I dont tell them I learned it all on the Dis!

I bought an autograph book on my Disney honeymoon last year and I was 23 years old. It's one of my favorite souveniers. :D The way I saw it, my little Just Married pin entitled me to all the silliness I wanted (within the boundaries of not bothering others, of course... want to make sure I'm not coming across as one of THOSE brides!). It was like a badge of courage to me, ha ha! Luckily, my husband found my eagerness to catch up to Mulan and get her autograph charming rather than embarrassing! :goodvibes: Disney World is great for allowing everyone to engage in childish delights.

Go to Wal Mart...back in the picture frames. For $3 or $4 dollars, they sell white mattes. We did this on our last trip to Disney. The mattes fit into our bakcpack and we had characters sign them all week. I bought an 18 pack of Sharpie markers and matched (as best I could) the color to the character - Jasmine signed in teal, Cinderella in pink, Chip in brown, etc... The store in Hollywood Studios that The Magic of Animation in Animation exits into has black frames for $20 with mouse ear cutouts in the corner and the frame is perfect with the matte that has an opening for a 5x7 picture. Each of my two kids picked their favorite (vertical!) picture to go in the frame. They're great souvenirs and we see them every day, unlike the autograph books that sit in a drawer. We could have made a fortune in the parks if we'd had some to sell (yes, I know you're not allowed, I'm just illustrating a point). Everyone wanted to know where we got them. Ours were vertical since that's the way the characters signed them, but if you had a horizontal picture in mind (like a big group shot) then hold the matte horizontally for characters to sign. We were there in January of this year - they had the frames then.
