Planning a December trip for family of five...We went once before in October of 2002 and only stayed two nights at the HRH (the other three we stayed at the Wyndham Palace.)

I'd like this trip to be for five or six nights. Is that too much time at Universal? We will have a rental car for the entire trip. I would like to take a day for DTD and the on-property pool at whichever hotel we pick.

Should we stay off-property for a few nights (thinking a 2 bedroom villa somewhere)

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

I can see maybe four days to see it all, but with that extra time you may want to visit some of the other area attractions. It all depends on what pace you like at the parks though. Did you feel that the two days you spent before was much too little? You can probably gauge the pace you'd like to take at the parks better than us.

We spent 6 nights, which gave us 5 full days at the parks, at US/IOA in February. As much as we loved it there, it did start to drag on a little. We had more than enough time to see everything, and have plenty of time to sit by the pool. We stayed at PBH and even made an afternoon of pool hopping to HRH. We did not have a car however, which would have made a huge difference. I do not think it would have felt like too much time there if we would have headed out to DTD or a water park or something like that. Without a car, I probably wouldn't need more than 3 days to do everything I wanted to do. With a car, I could see staying 6 nights again if we did some things off property.

We stayed 6 nights/7days (3 nts at PBH and 3 nts at HRH) and we never ran out of things to do. We didn't have a car, and the only time we went off property was to eat breakfast at Ponderosa. We spent 7 days going to IOA/US, and there are still things we didn't do yet.

I'd plan other parks since you'll have the rental car.

SWF (Sea World Florida) and
BGT (Busch Gardens Tampa)

BGT is 75 miles to the west, a 1.5 hour drive, but it's easy.

Go on their web sites, goto maps.yahoo.com, and print out the directions so you know how to get there.

He he he he...we were suppose to do 7 nights at RPR cause we have 5 day pass. Well...after the 5th night...that was it...enough of Universal! I called Disney and got a room there for our last 2 nights in Orlando!!

I say stay on-sight when doing Universal. I think 5 nights is enough time to do everything you need to do and still have enough time to hang around the resort and do the swimming. Remember with FOTL...you can do and see lots of things and will have plenty of time to do resort.
