Too much anticipation?????????

I'm being very careful to balance my excitement, planning, and anticipation with occasional doses of reality.

DH hasn't been to WDW since MK was the only park.......and he hasn't picked up a book or looked at a website...not a park map....nothing.

Meanwhile I've worn out my guidebook, planned and replanned the entire trip and spent every day scouring this forum for tidbits about the hotel we're booked at the GF.

Even though I've done all the planning and anticipating....when we get there....DH is going to have strong opinions and preferences about what he wants to do.

It's going to be interesting and different from my solo trips in the past.

But in my daydreaming and planning I'm trying to remember that being flexible and going with the flow is what makes WDW so much fun, you never what you are going to stumble across ......

So, it's not going to happen to me! lol That's what I'm trying to say.

You can plan and anticipate, and not be let down if you are realistic.

I do experience this - I've always been to embarrased to admit it to anyone. Gee...I hope my husband isn't reading this post. Anyway, we both anticipate and anticipate and plan and talk it to death, we watch videos over and over, go on the internet to various sites, watch all the travel channel specials, etc etc. Now, when we go I have a FANTASTIC time so I can't really say I would call it a "letdown" per se. But, there is a tiny element of "decreased excitement" - maybe that's a good way to put it.
I think we enjoy the pre-disney (we call it PD) period just as much as the trip.

However, as soon as we're down to 1 or 2 days left...I'm quite sad.

It's kind of weird, isn't it? Almost like a drug.

I'm not much into planning. I'm very spontaneous. But I can't stop looking at pictures or watching videos. So add me to the obssessed list.

Sometimes I've felt like I've over planned, and the trip can lack spontaneity. For our trip in August, we've decided not to plan anything. My thinking is that we are going late in the season so we shouldn't need PSs and it will be fun to just let the days happen. I frequently have to fight the planning urge, but I am looking forward to just doing what we feel like. We'll see how it turns out.

What I have found is that when you are actually there, there is so much to see and do that you may not have "anticipated" that it still makes it fun. That being said, I also remember being hot, hungry, thirsty, not able to go on rides with my family because I was pregnant, disagreements with DH, getting soaked from the rain, etc. However, that didn't ruin the trip. Not at all. It isn't fun in those particular moments, but the next minute there is something else to do that is so fun or amazing. And the absolute best part for me is the memories. You will have great memories whether you over-anticipate or not. In your memories, you only remember the fun and magical moments, not the heat, rain, disappointments, etc. Just my two cents....

I'm just like you - read my books twice - post of the boards - check out everything and am so totally excited! It's gonna be awesome! Don't worry - I don't think disney is gonna be a let down especially since you know what to expect and are prepared!

Your gonna have a blast! Enjoy!:cool: :Pinkbounc

I think we're all guilty of this. I'm mostly worried about the big crash when we come home. :(

Amen, Judi!::yes::

The "crash" is worse than the anticipation!

now....that's another thread!:earseek: ::yes::

When you get home, plan your next trip. Notice my two counters below :hyper:

LOL, travellady!
Haven't changed my counter yet!
But, you can tell by my sig that THAT'S THE ONLY WAY to go!::yes:: :crazy:

The wait sure seems long if it is 30 days or 6 months but it is worth all the money and time spent on planning your trip to the happiest place on earth!:jumping1:
