OK, I'm planning our trip out. Shockingly (not), I have too many table service meals. We are doing the standard dining plan and will get 7 for our trip. I currently have 10. I may keep 10, or cut 1/2. Either way, I'll be paying OOP for at least 2. Here is our current plan. Should I just pay OOP for California Grill since it's 2 TS credits? Or would one/two of the others make more sense. If we use the dining plan, we would get the specialty drinks (not necessarily cocktails, but think milk shakes at Sci-Fi) and the desserts. If we pay OOP, we'd likely get water and no desserts. So, my considerations are if the restaurant has excellent specialty drinks or desserts, it would sway what we order and how we pay for it.

Raglan Road
Liberty Tree Tavern or Skipper Canteen (just one of this, haven't decided yet)
California Grill (2 credits on dining plan, on this day, we will do Be Our Guest for dessert only at 4 PM)
Tusker House Breakfast
Ohana Dinner
Sci-Fi Dine In
Teppan Edo
Ohana Breakfast
Whispering Canyon dinner

Generally I would not do more than 1 TS a day. We go to WDW for the parks, not the food. For us I would skip Teppan Edo and Ohana. I can get Teppan Edo type food at half a dozen places where we live. We never have TS breakfast at WDW. Takes up too much time and it's just breakfast. But that's just my opinion and your mileage may vary.

Ohana is a must do for us (dinner). It's our favorite. Teppan Edo I picked because it includes an "experience". I tried to gravitate towards those. I agree that normally we wouldn't do 2 TS a day, but those days we're doing it for the character meal so I'm OK with breakfast and dinner in those instances. Originally we were going to do Chef Mickey for dinner, but I'm opting to switch that to the Ohana breakfast for better food (and we're staying at Poly so it's convenient). I have considered getting rid of Teppan Edo though. I know there are good options for QS in Epcot.

As far as maximizing your credits on the plan, if it were me at CG, I would pay out of pocket since it eats up 2 TS credits and since you are having dessert only at BOG, it won't be as pricy if you don't order a ton of food. You could definitely play that smart if you do OOP. We did OOP our entire last trip and really made the most out of appetizers and sharing. I would save the credits for other restaurants. I would definitely keep LTT over Skipper Canteen, just my preference. I like it for a late lunch so you can see the parade when you walk out if that's in your plan and the toffee cake, yummy!! Worth the use of dining plan on this one too since it's AYCTE if you so choose or a la carte. Same goes for Tusker House, Whispering Canyon and Ohana- I feel like those are all worthy of using your DDP. SCi Fi dine in is good but not as expensive so maybe do that as another OOP restaurant. I haven't eaten at Raglan Road or Teppan, heard they are good so I cannot speak to value for food on those. Love all the choices!!

We love the breakfast at Ohana, we usually don't do breakfast either but I make an exception for Ohana!! I have never done dinner there so that's on my next visit list.

If you want to get ride of a few and you are looking for more "experience" restaurants, I would ditch LTT/Skipper's. LTT isn't great. We like Skipper's, but if you need to cut something, that could go. I would also cut O'hana breakfast. I know you are staying at Poly, but you will already see Mickey at TH and O'hana breakfast food is not good, IMHO. Super salty. We aren't huge fans of Teppan Edo, either. The food was fine, but the "show" was quite lackluster and very short.

Is there a reason you are eating dessert at BOG and then going to Cali Grill? The dessert at BOG isn't great.

Originally planned on dinner there but don’t think the kids would like the menu. Thought we could just do dessert so we can meet the beast.

This was really helpful. I think we'll skip Teppan Edo this time. There are so many good QS options at Epcot so we'll do all QS that day. I'll also either drop our MK TS meal or the Raglan Road and replace with a QS. For Raglan Road, we are meeting friends in Disney Springs so it'll just depend on where they'd like to eat. If we end up keeping that one, I'll likely pay for it OOP as we'll be eating goodies at Disney Springs much of the day and can go light on dinner.
