Hi,
Sorry but there are so many threads, it's hard to keep up with what I need to know!

Currently the "news" in the Daily Mail is that the UK won't be able to fly to the US until November/December.

If this is the case, it seems I'll be able to get a refund in my flights (virgin Atlantic unfortunately so I know it'll take a few months to potentially get back 😒) but what about Disney hotels/packages? Have they been good at issuing refunds? Do you just ring them to cancel and assume I'll lose my deposit but get the rest back?

If anyone knows this it would be appreciated also but I bought Halloween horror Night tickets from Universal Bookings which I don't know if they're a third party or actually part of universal themselves but has anyone had any luck getting refunds from either these or just third party sellers for tickets?

I'm dreading not being able to go as that will mean I have to cancel everything with Disney weddings but they have been amazing and understanding so far - I'm just trying to hold out hope but it's slowly disappearing.

Any advice or help would be really appreciated x

I’m pretty sure are the moment you’re able to cancel without losing out. I think to begin with it was dated for arrivals before October 3rd but this page of their site doesn’t specify a date.

Thank you - do you know if they've been issuing full refunds or keeping the deposit (and technically they can keep the deposit if you've not paid in full, right)?

Currently they’ve been offering full refunds. But at some point no doubt that will change, when who knows. Is your deposit the standard small sum, ours £200? If so at the end of the day that’s for most an amount they can stomach losing. If the parks and hotels are open they do not have to do anything.

I'm always skeptical of what is reported in the Daily Mail, however, there may be something in this. I'm due to fly out in September and my balance is due in 4 weeks, so I'm curious to know what Disney will do too. My flight with VA was cancelled ages ago and I initially took and open ticket, then a refund, which I now regret as it's taking so long, something I'm looking to see the legality of. I'd be happy to convert my refund back to an open ticket as I think open ticket holders will get priority when VA start selling direct flights to MCO again. I went and had a look and while they say direct flights for economy and PE are 'sold out' the seating guide has the plane virtually empty. I'm actually thinking of giving my MP something to do and asking him to find out why VA are taking so long with refunding flights and what my rights are.

As for your HHN tickets, I looked at the site and was concerned to see the company describe themselves as 'resellers' of Universal tickets, that's a strange term to use and to be honest, their refund policy is pretty poor, taking a 20% fee off the price of your tickets for 42 days (or more out) is very steep, however, I suspect HHN will be cancelled as Disney have cancelled all MNSSHPs this year and I'm wondering what your rights for a full refund for the HHN tickets would be considering it was not your fault if the HHN are cancelled. I would suggest you contact UB asap to find this out.

I'm glad for you that Disney Weddings are doing the right thing. I'm presuming you booked the hotel package through Disney itself, did you have the email asking for your choices of keeping your current reservation, modifying it for next year or cancelling? I chose to keep mine, but, I'm trying to find out where I stand should the flying restrictions still be in place, especially with the 35% discount given for the DDP cancellation. I just called the 0800 number to be told the wait time is 168 minutes 😱 so I'll try another time. Forget emails, they just reply telling you to call the 0800 number. I should imagine if you call to cancel the reservation they will be a lot quicker refunding you than VA will. Call, put your phone on speaker and leave it with the Disney music playing in the background is all I can suggest. And don't try calling too late as they shut it off well before the office hours advertised.

One plus for me, my new passport is on it's way, much better than stated on the gov.uk site. It's going to be less than three weeks. Got to find the positives in all this. Good luck and all the best in sorting your trip out.

It's just £100 (2 adults) x

I had heard tha VA are being horrendous with their refunds so I'll definitely be trying to get an open ticket. My worry is that even if they DO fly, we'll be stuck in quarantine for 2 weeks over there once we land. Coming back here if it's still in place isn't an issue as we've been given the go ahead to continue working from home if that happens.

I emailed them last week but no luck (yet). It's not the best to lose the ticket amount but I can suck up our losses if I'm unable to send them back in time for a refund and just count my losses on that one. Thankfully, they've been doing interviewing for HHN do it looks hopeful 🤞🏻

Yea I booked my package directly through Disney and we chose the option that we were still coming. I did the online chat with them last night and they've said because Jambo house (AKL) isn't currently open and they don't know when it will be, to keep an eye out for an email with our choices of hotels to move to. I asked if they would just give us one then if we didn't like it and wanted to move that we'd have to pay but they've said just to watch out as things are changing with this so there may be a couple of resorts to choose from possibly 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's good about your passport as I'd heard there may be a delay - definitely a positive.

The only positive I'm holding onto if that either 1. They won't fly and we can get an open ticket (can't do that at the moment as they're technically still due to fly they keep telling me) or 2. They fly and a quarantine is in order - we discussed it last night and for the sake of a bit more money, I'm tempted to just booked a villa for those 2 weeks and chill there plus get a refund on everything else then go again next year.
That'll teach me for putting off the wedding for twelve years then finally deciding to do it this year 🤦🏻‍♀️

Disneyland have just put back their reopening dates because California is seeing a new increase in Covid-19 cases and Florida is seeing the largest increases so far in their state. I wouldn't be surprised if WDW puts back it's reopening dates too.

UB aren't part of Universal, they are just a ticket resale company. If US end up cancelling HHN then UB should refund you in full for your tickets, strictly speaking, if you cannot fly over because of the restrictions then they should do the decent thing and refund you anyway.

Can you let me know how you openchat with Disney, did you do it through the UK site?

I was due to fly October 2nd for 15 days in Disney. I had VA flights and booked hotel and tix direct with Disney. I cancelled with Disney and they gave me a full refund including the deposit. They didn’t even try to keep the deposit.

VA agreed to move my flight to April 2021 with no amendment fee.

I’ll be amazed if anyone from the UK can visit Disney for the rest of the year. Some people and governments simply do not appear to be learning any lessons 🤷‍♂️

I believe it is not actually because of case numbers. I’ve read it is because the state has not issued theme park rules and is not set to until July and they say they will not have enough time to prepare and get staff back to work. So they will advise a new date when they know the rules.

whether there is also a unsaid reason as well who knows

It's via the app - once you open, click the 3 dots on the bottom right then a "chat with us" option is available x

Oh that's brill. How did you contact virgin - phone or online chat? We're now looking at next April too so that would be brill if we were able to do that

I just filled in the ‘complete our open ticket form’ on the website. Takes a few days but you get an email back which is essentially a credit note. When you have your new dates fill in the “rebook my flights form’ No penalty but you will pay for any increase in flight price, or get a refund if the price is less.

Both of these links to the forms are on the COVID 19 travel advice page of the VA website. I thought VA have handled this quite well to be honest.

We grabbed the chance of an open ticket until 2022 With VA as soon as it was offered as we felt that was the best option for us at the time - our balance with Disney for POFQ was due in a matter of days.
Since then, we discovered that a lot of people found success through twitter. Just by tweeting VA directly, people seemed to be getting desired responses. Check out the threads @virginatlantic. Those, like us, who had bubble seats were told they would be eligible for a refund. I appreciate your situation is different Tinkerbell 1991, but it might be a way of communication.
Really feeling for you, as all your hopes and dreams are wrapped up in your October trip. Stay positive. I am sure everything will work out: as long as you you have you have faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust.😘💫

We are booked for October (not parks just a DVC stay) we are flying with Tui.

VA have relaunched US flights, they have done a huge social media campaign detailing all the US and other long haul destinations that they are resuming flights to from August, surely theres no way the airlines would begin that huge operational mission without having had some government guidance that the restrictions on international travel will be lifted first....

I am pretty hopeful of flying to Orlando in October and we are happy to wear masks over there, and like you I dont mind self isolating for 14 days on return if needs be, we can work from home too.

I am still waiting for a VA refund for cancelled flights from April, been waiting almost 3 months and received an email last week saying it may be another 2 months!!

You can actually get a refund if the price is cheaper? Wow, that's ... Good for virgin 😲
Thanks so much for all your help and advise

Thank you so much. I think we might book for April and hope it's calmed down a little bit at least by then. I've also seen the flights are £1,000 less than what we paid so hopefully we can get a refund in the difference. If not, a treat of a bump to upper class may be in order haha

That's madness! I'd heard it could be 120 but possibly 5 months! Now that's taking the absolute 🤬

Urgh I just don't know what to do. Our resort payment is due start of August and was tempted after talking tonight to just cancel it before paying and counting our losses but I can't seem to let go of the "what if" possibility. Plus, we'd be more than happy to wear masks so that's not too big a deal for us either.
Aaah, decisions decisions 🤦🏻‍♀️

We're in the process of canceling our trip to Anaheim in September, as I can't see how we will be allowed to fly into the US by then.
Two years planning down the drain
