We had to shorten our 10 night/11 day trip to 7 nights/8 days (my husband only had 5 vacation days at his job, doesn't that stink?)! :(

As a result, I'm having to pare down our ADRs. We're on the dining plan, but I wouldn't mind paying for an extra meal or so out of pocket if I need to.

My problem - I really want to go to 50s Prime Time, but I can't decide what else on my list to cut in order to fit it in. I suppose we could do 2 TS in one day (lunch and dinner or dinner and breakfast), but that seems like a lot of eating! LOL :)

Here's what we have scheduled for the days we'll be there.. one of these I need to cut to fit in Prime Time, or else add a lunch or switch something to breakfast...

Chef Mickeys (character meal on arrival night)
Le Cellier (hubby loves steaks!)
WCC (just looks fun, not super impressed by the menu)
Ohana (not sure about this one, sounds fun too)
Coral Reef (I think my boys would love the aquariums!)
Mama Melrose (Fantasmic)
Boma (dinner)

Thanks for any advice or help you could offer! I'm such a Disney newbie! :)

I think Le Cellier is wonderful, & personally I LOVE O'Hana! Sometimes we will do an early breakfast 8:30am, then do lunch around 2:30pm, & dinner at 8:00pm just to fit everything in. We do not do this everyday, but when I really am crunched for time I make it work.

Well this is just my opinion, but I would NOT cut Le Cellier or Boma, and I love Mama Melrose, too. When we ate at WCC our server wasn't "into it" and it wasn't that much fun for us, so it really depends on who you get. I've never eaten at Coral Reef, but the whole aquarium atmosphere looks so unique. We really enjoyed O'Hana and Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun for kids. Guess I'd drop WCC :scratchin ...Hope you have a great trip!!!

Hi!!! I love Prime Time so I understand about making it fit. I have eaten everywhere but Boma for dinner and The Coral Reef. From reading the boards I would say to cut Coral Reef. Whispering Canyon is fun and so is Ohana. If you are doing the fantasmic pkg then you have to keep MM which is one of my fav's. They have a great steak at MM so maybe you could cut Le Celier, but that wouldn't be my first choice. Good luck!! I am sure you will be happy with whatever you decide. :cheer2:

Has anyone been to WCC for breakfast? Just wondering if it's as "fun" (well, I know that's not a guarantee) at breakfast as at dinner?

I wouldn't cut anything. Prime Time is a great place for lunch! You can get a salad or a sandwich.

I do a lot of TS because I am really not a fan of fast food- burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers- I have no interest in them. (Though there are a few CS places I love like Tangereine Cafe, Yorskshire County Fish and Chips and Columbia Harbor House) I've done 3 TS in one day several times and really, it's not necessarily more food. In fact, you could end up eating less. Example: Lunch at 50's Prime Time- grilled chicken sandwich or salad. Lunch at Cosmic Ray's- burger and fries with cheese sauce from toppings bar and a brownie. You can eat a lot or a little, light or heavy at either location, depending on your choices.

Anyway, that's my advice- it's certainly not unheard of to have more than one TS in a day and I think you would enjoy Prime Time. If you're worried you'll be too full from lunch, space out your meals and be sure not to plan an all you can eat meal for the dinner on that day.

If i was going to cut any it would be the coral reef...We loved Boma, wcc, Ohanas, and LeCellier....We did 50s prime time for lunch so thats an option :thumbsup2

I am having the same dillema for our upcoming trip! So many restaurants, not enough time at the World :teeth: If I had to pick one from your list to cut, it would be WCC. Nothing wrong with it, but I would say it looks to be the least exciting of all, in my opinion.

I think the solution is simple.....Send your husband home and you stay. :lmao:
But if you can't, my first choice would be to eliminate MM. Second choice is to cut out WCC, if you do not like the menu.

or

How about doing an early breakfast at Chef Mickey and a late dinner at another restaurant on the same day.

Have fun

We just had breakfast at the WCC on Sunday. If you need to make changes, I would suggest switching WCC from dinner to breakfast. Here is a copy of what I wrote in my dining reviews.

Sunday
Breakfast Whispering Canyon Cafe WL
As you may have noticed, this was our only breakfast out on our trip. Our other breakfasts consisted of ceareal, oatmeal, and muffins in the room. We had been to WCC for dinner twice before, but this was our first breakfast here. It was great, and I think I like it better for breakfast than dinner. They were really crowded when we got there. We checked in about 10 minutes early, and still weren't seated until about 20 minutes past our ADR time of 9:30. Our waiter was a lot of fun, and it seemed like almost all of the waitstaff was really into character. Lots of ketchup calls, goofy announcements, and a few people being slightly picked on here and there. It was all in good fun, and the kids seemed to enjoy the horse race around the restaurant (not MY kids, the little ones!) DH and the boys split the all you can eat breakfast, served family style in a skillet, and I had the french toast. The french toast was really good, and I would definitely recommend it if you are not into the all you can eat meal. Total cost - $50. Grade A-

I would agree with a few and cut out the coral reef, your kids can see the aquarium from inside the living seas. Not sure of their ages, but of all the listed, i think coral reef is least kid friendly for food choices.

JUst curious... for your places to eat you are going to lots of resorts too, maybe because of that I'd cut out WCC or Boma... since you have Ohana and Chef Mickey as a "must do"...

For us I'd cut out Chef Mickey's (we've done it, wasnt as impressed) and do WCC since it is new...

but that's just us, you get to decide... and I take it 50's Prime Time isnt a Fantasmic option???

We're in the same delima too many places we want to go back to (California Grille) and places to try new (Artist Point) I made a tentative schedule, and had to 'add' a day to accomadate the restaurants!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Somehow I think Dh is going to have to ask me to "stop dreaming" and get real!! :rotfl:

So for everyone one of us, we have different opinions, and what makes me happy, may not suit your needs, and taste buds!! Love getting everyone's thoughts and opinions, helps me refine mine!! :thumbsup2

From what I've heard Coral Reef is much more about the ambience (or whatever you want to call eating next to fish), so I would say nix that one as a dinner and just go there for dessert one day (pay out of pocket).

Well, just to add to your confusion: my kids absolutely LOVED Coral Reef.............this time, we had to make an ADR, they INSISTED, and we didn't have to be talked into it, their lobster bisque was wonderful.............but we are going to wait extra time for the tank-side table........last time we were on the third tier, and had to look across the restaurant at the tank...........still nice, but not as "close-up".

We do not like WCC. We had a CM who snapped at our son for nothing, no stick horse races, not many hijinks at all, mix-ups with orders more than once, and we can get better barbecue locally.

We also did not like the food at MM, but you are doing Fantasmic package, so probably want to keep that..........we chose HOllywood and Vine this time for our FP.

We do love Boma, Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's...........all must dos for us! We're trying O'hana this next trip for the first time.

HTH!

there's never enough time to eat everywhere you want!! That's what keeps us coming back!

Wow when I asked my kids for their top pick for a dinner when we go- the two oldest(11 and 8) both said Coral Reef. They love it there- they feel fancy. They love the aquarium- the last 2 times we have been there - there were divers feeding the turtle so cool. The food is hit or miss(my Mom is going there tonite!!) so I'll let you know what she thinks when she gets back.
50's is a great place for lunch why not try it as a lunch. But if you want to eliminate I would eliminate the WCC. It is ok but not amazing. And if you get a dud for a waiter it is actually really bad becasue your kids see everyone else doing crazy things and your waiter is rushing you through your meal(our experience last time) We don't feel the need to go back and neither do the kids.

I know people love The Coral Reef but I don't get it. I like the poster that saidn "ambiance or whatever eating next to fish is called". Diet Coke almost came out my nose!

I would cut Coral Reef. We didn't really enjoy it, and our 5yo DD didn't get anything out of it. I know a lot of people do enjoy it, but the food just wasn't to our liking. $76 later, we were still hungry.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I still haven't decided what to do!

For me, procrastination is an art form! :)

I would cut Boma. My 1st choice would be to cut Mama Melrose, but since you are doing the Fantasmic package, I opted for Boma.
