I want to start by apologizing for all of the questions I have asked recently and in this post :rolleyes1. I'm hoping that this will keep me quiet for awhile! :)

1. Room Block- Do DVC rooms booked on points count towards a room block? I want to set up a room block for our escape package so we can buy half-day park tickets after 2pm or 4pm for some of our guests for 6 nights worth of stay. We would have 3 different rooms (2 studios and 1 2-bedroom) booked for 6 nights each so I think we would meet the minimum of 10 nights then?

2. Epcot Dinner Party-
  • We want to do a private dinner party (full meal) in Epcot. I read in Passporter's that there is a limit on how much hot food you can have. What is the limit like? Could we serve a full hot meal maybe steak, potatoes, pasta plus a salad and drinks?
  • Can we customize the menu to serve anything we want such as Cobb salads from the Hollywood Brown Derby etc. or do they have to be menu items from Epcot restaurants?
  • Is there a limitation on time or could we do it from 7-9:00pm during Illuminations?
  • Are Rue de Paris or UK Upper and Lower generally difficult to get 8 months out on a Monday?
  • What happens when it is raining but Illuminations isn't cancelled? What happens when Illuminations is cancelled all together? Do you still have the event and where?
3. Resort Night Before and Night of Wedding- If we have the wedding at the WP and a dinner party in Epcot, would you suggest staying at the GF so we can have first look photos, spa etc. all there for before the wedding and using our 4 hour limo to take us to and from Epcot OR would you suggest staying at an Epcot resort so that after the Illuminations dinner party, we are already in the area and can be closer to our hotel room?

Thank you for any questions you can answer!! I appreciate it! :)

DVC rooms booked on points definitely count toward a room block. I'm not sure on the specifics of nights needed to qualify for the convention/after 2pm tickets though

There are two aspects to this:

1) If you have a full, sit-down meal the food and beverage minimums triple. Rue de Paris, UK Upper and UK Lower each have a $1,500 food and beverage minimum for dinner.
2) Each venue's distance from the kitchen determines what type of food you can have there. If you get too elaborate, they may require you to pay $800 for a kitchen tent to be set up near your venue. For what you want, this shouldn't be necessary, but they once tried to make me pay for one for a similar meal at UK Pubside.

Can we customize the menu to serve anything we want such as Cobb salads from the Hollywood Brown Derby etc. or do they have to be menu items from Epcot restaurants?

Yes, it is fully customizable.

Is there a limitation on time or could we do it from 7-9:00pm during Illuminations?

After 1 hour of food service there is a pro-rated charge per person for additional food service. But you can also do just one hour of food service and have them stop serving for the rest of the event.

are Rue de Paris or UK Upper and Lower generally difficult to get 8 months out on a Monday?

It's less about how far out you book than it is about when you want to book. Most venues are off-limits on Fridays and Saturdays during the Food and Wine Festival. You should be OK on a Monday.

What happens when it is raining but Illuminations isn't cancelled?

They move your food to an indoor location and then give you umbrellas to go watch the show at the closest available venue (which may not be your original venue).

What happens when Illuminations is cancelled all together? Do you still have the event and where?

Yes. If the weather is good, you have it at the original location. Otherwise, you have it in a rain backup location. These are assigned based on availability, usually not more than 30 days out.

I'd stay near Epcot. You can always go over to the Grand Floridian early to take photos before the ceremony. There's a spa at the Swan & Dolphin you can walk to, or just take an Uber over to the Grand Floridian or (my recommendation) the Four Seasons.
