We have at least 4 trips planned this year (all at Disney resorts), and we're AP holders, so that's 5 MBs for each of us. 25 Magic Bands are 20 too many, IMO.

Should I just trash them after each trip? (not our AP bands, of course) Is there an advantage to keeping all of them?

5 MBs mean you don't have a complete set yet, you need to plan other trips :)

a complete set of colors lets you match the band to your outfit :)

if you want to trash them, they're yours, do whatever you like (deactivate them first and don't forget to recycle)

My next trip I don't even have the option of getting new Magic Bands. It shows our old ones and there's nowhere stating anything about customizing for the new trip.

Maybe they finally realize they are throwing away money giving people a hundred bands each.

What about donating to My Fantasy Bands? She makes decals for the magic bands and could use them to show off her new designs. From her Instagram post, it looks like she reimburses for shipping costs: https://instagram.com/p/vJ3__BEWre/

This is what I do: tell Disney that you have your own MBs and don't need to be sent more. They might react weirdly to this, but be firm. What happened to me was that I never "personalized" mine for our trip, like they invite you to do. I have the one that I use, which is my Haunted Mansion one. At the front desk, they gave me the "default" grey band, which I refused politely, explaining that I already have one. The cms CAN actually link your MBs up to your room key (Why not - its a rfid chip - you can put anything on it!).

So be firm, tell them that you already have too many please, and tell the cms to recycle the bands - which they CAN do. Easy enough. Watch out though, because the cm that I talked to got a little confused and insisted that I "needed" at MB, which I really didn't.

Honestly I like having multiple MBs. I use the generic color ones in the pools and I save my limited edition/purchased ones for the parks. I like the idea of interchanging them from day to day etc.

What's special about the AP bands that makes you want to keep them? I'm lost by your "of course" statement.

As long as you don't confirm your address or personalize your bands, they will not ship you new ones. They will have some generic gray ones waiting for you, but you can refuse those at check-in.

I find that the magic bands get dull and yucky looking after a week's vacation. The pool, the sunscreen, and whatever else makes them look not so pretty. I enjoy getting the new bands. :-)

Don't count on this. I thought the same thing. We leave tomorrow and what did I receive in an email two days ago....Your Magicband Package is complete and will be waiting for you at your resort for check-in. What? I wasn't even asked about customizing this time so I thought they figured you have two per person so your good. I'm hoping when we get to the resort we can just decline them.

Don't think that is true for us. We have an August and Nov trip and when I go to the bands tab in MDE it has "Get Started" on both trips to start customizing my new bands. We have 5 bands per person (wish they had other colors) DH would be fine with the same gray one everyday. I like to be more color coordinated :)

I hear ya!! I do wish they would come up with a better system because you know we are paying for all of those.

They should give you the option to use your older bands if you have been to Disneyworld in the last two years since the chips inside are good for two or three years. We now customize the back of the bands with our name and month and year we go. Example Mike315, this way it is a souvenir of the time you went if you have multiple bands.

We use our deactivated bands as bag/mug holders on the stroller handle. If they are not used, it just colors the black stroller handle.
