Too many MagicBands!

I hear ya!! I do wish they would come up with a better system because you know we are paying for all of those.
Actually Disney has a fixed-price contract with the vendor, so using more bands doesn't cost them any more.

During the roll-out period there was no attempt to minimize the use of bands, as it would have been one more thing that could have created problems. That will change at some point when the system as a whole is considered "stable" - whatever that means. Since once the previous contract is up, the vendor may want more favorable terms to continue the system.

Regardless, we are still paying for them. The people who work for WDWTC are not dummies. They know what their volume looks like and they know how to project volume. It isn't too hard for a CIO to do the math and figure out how much to tack onto rooms, tickets, etc to make the numbers work.

I throw mine away if I had kept them I would have over 30 by now and theirs only two of us. We have two sets one from our APs and one for the current resort stay. We use the APs for the parks and such during the day and call them the "dirty bands" and use the other set for nice meals and evening entertainment after we shower.

I figured we had to keep the AP band because that's where our APs are "attached"

That MB is no different than any other band. The only thing in that box different is your Discount Card and the AP slider but I moved our sliders to our LE MagicBands we bought. Our AP MBs never been out of the boxes.

We always travel with two sets in case we lose one. It has happened. My DS lost his once, they offered us a grey one. He was upset because it wasn't lime green. Now I have an extra. At some point we can't be surprised if we go to the front desk for a replacement and they offer a hard ticket key or send us to the gift shop to buy one.

They do get kinda yukky in the summer months and if you wear in pools or shower. I can toss when that happens.

You can wear a color that matches your outfit or adorn them with design and jewels for evening, sports and day wear.

Am thinking of using them as shower rings for my Mickey Mouse shower curtain.

Disney wants them ON your arms for many reasons. As long as folks are excited about getting them they will keep mailing them. At some point they may opt to have them all at the resort but if they want to continue the direct to room option - in the mail they will come.

But you're not paying *at the margin*. Refraining from sending out additional bands would not reduce the cost, as a result of the fixed-price agreement.

I dont think you understand how budgeting and costing works within an infrastructure.
