Too many character meals?

This is totally just my experience, and I'm not raining on the character parade, but to me it's a little much.
Our last trip the kids were 1 year and 5 years (almost to the day) and we had booked all the character meals.
3 days into the trip we called Disney dining and cancelled all of the meals, and switched to quieter restaurants.
We're going back in January and we're doing a couple of character meals. I think they are wonderful and I LOVE them, but they are really high energy and for our family they need to be spread out.
For us breakfasts are way easier than dinners (with characters) - I have no idea why.

I tend to agree with this. We had two character dinners - Akershus in Norway and Crystal Palace, and while the kids clearly loved seeing the characters, the atmosphere is really loud and actually gets kids rowdier than normal. It's very noisy and not relaxing at all, and they did not eat very much. My son who usually loves ravioli did not touch his at Akershus. Neither did my little one. Having said that, we will try breakfasts next time simply because my kids are more of big breakfast eaters and I think they'll focus more on eating in the monring, especially if we wait an hour or so after getting up.

Never enough character meals. About 1 a day sounds good to me! I like that most are breakfasts/lunches because I like dinner to focus more on good food....., not a buffet.

Last Trip, we did these....
Ohana's Character Breakfast (Twice)
1900 Park Fare Supercalifragilistic Breakfast
Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House
Hollywood and Vine Character Lunch
Crystal Palace Character Lunch

We were going to Chef Mickeys for breakfast too but cancelled so we could get to a park early.

They were all great. Ohana's was wonderful (Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, Stitch). Wasn't crowded so all characters made 2 rounds. Breakfast was very yummy. 1900 Park Fare had Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter (my favorite), Alice in Wonderland, Tigger and Pooh -- must try the strawberry soup there! All the food was awesome there. Donald's Safari breakfast was very good too - great characters (Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Mickey) and great food with different dishes (other than usual breakfast fare). Hollywood and Vine was OK but food just so-so. Kind of boring but cute, old Little Einstein's characters. Crystal Palace was great as usual - Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet.

We have 4 character meals scheduled on our trip. Our son loves the characters so much that we feel that the more character meals the better. It sure does beat waiting in line for an hour (like we did at Epcot once) to see them. It also depends on the child I suppose. Our son is quite obsessed with Disney and makes pretend phone calls to his Disney friends Mickey, Donald, and Daisy Duck (haha!) almost every day. Character meals are part of the magic for our family. Enjoy your trip!!!

Is there a such thing?

This is going to be our first trip to WDW, my kids will be 23 months and 5 years (birthday during trip), and I've scheduled 6 character meals. Only 2 of our ADRs aren't character meals.

Part of me feels like it's overboard, but the other part of me says nahhh it's our first trip!

One can never have too many character meals! Have a blast (I know you will)!
