Too many buffets?

Looking over our ADRs (we're on the DDP), I just realized that I booked all buffets with the exception of San Angel & Wolfgang Puck. Did I make a mistake?

On the one hand, we have a 2 yr old boy, so buffets might be faster (not having to wait for our server/food/check) in case he has a meltdown. On the other hand, they could be stressfull (waiting in lines, standing/walking more, not relaxing sit-down). I'm torn!:guilty:
Here's my list:
Wolfgang Puck (arrival night)
1900 Park Fare
Crystal Palace
Tusker House
San Angel Inn
Biergarten

I need input for experienced DISers! :teacher:

There's no such thing as too many buffets if that is what your family likes.

Up until this last February, we generally do all/or mostly buffets with our young children. We find them to be far more convenient with little ones, especially those under 3 who can't be on the dining plan. The lines for food generally aren't really long and they will get their food much faster than at other sit down restaurants.

We still do a lot of buffets with the kids, but now we are finally starting to mix in some non-buffets.

Wolfgang Puck isn't a buffet, either.

As for the buffets, I guess it would depend on whether you like them. The problem with getting rid of 1900 Park Fair or Crystal Palace is that they are also character meals, which I'm sure your son would like.

Personally, I'd probably replace Biergarten with something else. And maybe Tusker House.

The OP said that San Angel AND Wolfgang Puck were not buffets.

I love the buffets at WDW--I don't think you have too many--and like you mentioned, they are very nice to do with a child. :)

I had originally, but went back and corrected it afterwards. I think DS will like the buffets, especially if they don't take forever. Thanks so much for your opinion!:thumbsup2

it looks great, my kiddies have always enjoyed the buffets. ,except my DS who is now 8 doesnt care for Gala Feast because of the stepmom and the girls like to ask him to dance, but on that note last time he went in sunglasses like noone would notice and it was the only thing they talked about. Too Funny Enjoy

No, we do a lot of buffets because most character meals are buffets. However, I thought they were great, because you can feed the kids pretty much as soon as you sit down. It's not relaxing, but no character meal is!!! But my kids loved the buffets/character meals!

Your picks look great to me!

As others have said, this is a matter of what works well for your family. I am not a fan of buffets in general but I do actually like the Crystal Palace. I'm a germophobe of sorts and I have seen them remove items that little kids have fingered. You might want to check the menus and see if there is another restaurant that appeals to you;otherwise relax and enjoy your vacation!:goodvibes

It may seem like alot but its a good thing because you can pick what you want. Buffet doesnt necessarily mean you have to pig out, there are many healthy choices to pick from and i found from the last trip that i was able to control myself (most nights not all) and make somewhat healthy choices. So even if you are on a diet you will find plenty of options that will fill you up.

looks good to me!!!

Crystal Palace YUMMMMY

Tusker house YUMMMMY

1900 Park Bfast was YUMMMY dinner, I really don't remember but we had so much fun with the Stepsisters..

my son is 2years old so it was just better for me to eat at buffets...

We're planning our first trip this September, so I'm definitely not an experienced DISer :), but we will also have a 2-year-old (along with our 5-year-old) with us. I'm leaning toward a lot of buffets too. Since he won't be on the dining plan, I know he'll be able to get his fill of food he likes, and I won't have to worry about picking out something for me that he will like too. And knowing their patience level - or lack thereof ;)- I like the idea of getting both our kids settled with a plate of food as soon as possible.
Have fun!

I could not disagree more with my distinguished flightless friend! I would not cancel Tusker House (especially if it's Donald's Safari Breakfast, but even if it's lunch or dinner, it's a great place for theme park fare!)

While on the DDP with 2 children, I prefer to do buffets in Disney to give them more of a variety of food than the standard chicken nuggets/mac & cheese/hot dog option offered at nearly all TS and CS restaurants. Plus, as you mentioned, you can generally get out quicker and get back to the parks :goodvibes

I think buffets work great for small children as they can get a variety of food and I have never had problems with lines at them. Plus your two year old actually eats there for free. They technically should eat off your plate but we have never had a problem getting them their own plate.

I agree with this! Everyone says there isn't much variation in WDW breakfast buffets, but we find that Tusker House is much better than others we've tried! It's one of the few places in the world where my son will eat scrambled eggs, too - at other buffets he says they taste different.

Pros:
Lots of buffets work out well with a little one that can't/won't tolerate waiting for meals, allows them to eat a wider variety.
Tend to get in and out quicker.
If you book character meals you don't have to "waste" park time waiting to meet and greet characters.
Cons:
We did a LOT of buffet meals last year when we went with our (then) 5 and 7 year olds. I deliberately did this so we didn't have to take park time to do the meet and greets. The downside to this is by the end of the week DH was getting very tired of the same breakfast foods all the time. Yes, many of the buffets have a unique item or two but overall, the breakfasts (in our opinion) were pretty much the same.

With a child under 3 buffets may be the best option, as you can feed the child as much as they want for free.
