This is my kids(DS 13, DS 11, DD 8) first trip to Disney and my DH and I haven't been since 1995 when we got married so it is like our first trip too!

I think I got a little carried away with the ADRs. We are arriving on Oct 2 (around 2:00pm) and are leaving Oct 8 (around 3:00) and we are on the DDP. This is what I have booked:

Oct 2nd: 5:00 Hoop-Dee-Doo Review
Oct 3rd: 8:10 Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
12:00 CRT (only one we could get during our stay)
7:25 50's Prime Time Cafe
Oct 4th: 8:00 Tusker House Restaurant
12:45 Rain Forest Cafe
5:45 Planet Hollywood
Oct 5th: 12:30 T-REX
7:15 Crystal Palace
Oct 6th 8:55 Cape May Cafe (we are staying at BC)
6:00 Sci-Fi Dine-in-Theater
Oct 7th 12:45 Tony's Town Square
9:10 Chef Mickey's
Oct 8th 9:40 1900 Park Fare
12:50 Wispering Canyon Cafe

Let me know if I should cancel some of these and if so which ones. I want to make the trip as "magical as possible"

IMHO...........3 sitdowns per day, even 2 is tooooooooo much........for us, i mean, maybe you guys are big eaters...........ya better be or you are wasting a lot of money..................::yes::...........and this aggressive dining plan will reek havoc with any touring plan..........

great way to start the trip!

That is a lot of hopping around! I would either cancel CRT and stay at Epcot for a while then hop to DHS, or Cancel Akershus and do an MK day then DHS. We do DxDP everytime we go, and trust me, it is no fun doing that much eating and going back and forth

Oct 4th: 8:00 Tusker House Restaurant
12:45 Rain Forest Cafe
5:45 Planet Hollywood

I would totally drop the PH adr and make a later ADR at RFC

Oct 5th: 12:30 T-REX
7:15 Crystal Palace
def doable! make sure you enjoy DTD too!

Oct 6th 8:55 Cape May Cafe (we are staying at BC)
6:00 Sci-Fi Dine-in-Theater
Looks good! Sci-Fi is a fun atmosphere!

Oct 7th 12:45 Tony's Town Square
9:10 Chef Mickey's
That is a mighty late dinner! but if you don't mind eating so late it's all gravy! Although since it is your last night in park, you may decide to skip it and stay at the parks longer!

Oct 8th 9:40 1900 Park Fare
12:50 Wispering Canyon Cafe
those two are way to close in time. figure if you get to eat on time, you will be at least an hour. which puts you at 10:40, that gives you two hours to get to your next ressie. If you wanted to do a park that won't be a great plan. and it is a lot of food in a short period of time. Why not go to DTD and try earl or WPE at a later time?

I think you made good food choices, but too many in a short period of time, and not close enough for hopping! good luck!

You are over the number of TS's you will have for the length of your stay (unless you are on the deluxe plan) and a LOT of food which will take away a lot of time in the parks.

Are you doing the deluxe dining plan? You have lots of great dining reservations. If your kids have never been to Disney, you are probably going to discover that they will be more interested in the rides or pool time during the heat of the day than eating.

I would be concerned with this day:
Oct 4th: 8:00 Tusker House Restaurant
12:45 Rain Forest Cafe
5:45 Planet Hollywood
By the time you finish eating at Rainforest it will be close to time to eat at Planet Hollywood. I think that after your breakfast and lunch, you might not be hungry at 5:45. It will still be hot at the beginning of October that always impacts our eating.

This day also conerns me:
Oct 3rd: 8:10 Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
12:00 CRT (only one we could get during our stay)
7:25 50's Prime Time Cafe
You will spend your morning eating at Epcot and then making your way to the Magic Kingdom for lunch with little time for actual rides. Too much food for our family in a day.

This day also has two reservations very close together:
Oct 8th 9:40 1900 Park Fare
12:50 Wispering Canyon Cafe

I think given that it'll be your kids' first trip, you'll want to see more of the parks. With your current plan, you'll be running around making ADRs all day AND you'll feel too stuffed to enjoy anything. I did it, twice. We did the DxDP and booked 2-3 TS meals a day and it was too much, time and food.

I'd do max of 2 TS meals/day. On the days when you're doing shows, I'd skip a TS altogether and go for snacks and QS meals.

I'm sure you'll get many opinions but I think you're doing too much. And, T-Rex AND the Rainforest is redundant. Drop the Rainforest, keep T-Rex.

I'd probably drop Akershus and keep CRT, for the experience. I'd also drop Tony's on the day when you're at Chef Mickey's at 9:10am. You won't get out of CM's until 10:30'ish and you'll be sitting down for a questionable lunch 2 hours later. If you want to go to the MK after CM's, there's The Plaza, Columbia Harbour House and Pecos Bills for good QS options. If you're set on a TS, try Liberty Tree for lunch, it's much better than Tony's, IMO.

Wow we wouldnt eat that much in a 3 week trip...lol. We only do 1 TS a day if that, we had 2 scheduled once and canceled the night time one. But for a first trip you will get to try a little of everything and see all the dining options.

It can't hurt to keep them. As each day plays out you can always choose to cancel the ones you don't want to go to. If you decide to go, then the reservation is there for you.

I think you'll gain a sense early on during your trip of your preference for scheduled meals vs. time flexibility. You'll also discover that if you enjoy many full service meals early in your trip, by the end you want to eat as much.

My suggestion is that you just play it by ear, keeping the ADR's that you currently have.

See, I think drop t-rex and keep RFC, she will already be in the park for RFC. If she drops T-rex, that opens up a day for parks :upsidedow But I def agree, they are one in the same! Both are loud, noisy, not great food, BUT, super fun environment!

For us, we love an early breakfast ADR and then somewhat later dinner. Gives us plenty of time to enjoy both the food and the parks! and if you get hungry in between, use them snack credits! Plenty of places have awesome snack options, that are tasty and pretty filling!

Which dining plan are you on? If you are on dexluxe and it's your kids' first trip, I would consider switching to the regular DDP. I know there are a lot of people that enjoy the leisure of the dxddp but it's not for me.

Eating at Disney table service restaurants takes some time out of your day.

Also, no one has mentioned it but T Rex and Rainforest Cafe are NOT on the Disney Dining Plan.

since when? I know T-rex wasn't, but RFC is, or was anyway.

Thanks for all the help.....I thought it was a bit much but didn't want to miss any of the great places I heard about.....guess that means we will have to make another trip to WDW:banana:

We are on the deluxe dining plan. should i try to move the CRT to a dinner and drop some of the lunch plans?

I personally Love CRT and think you would love a dinner there! gives you more time in Mk also :)

Are you guys not doing Epcot?

As a rule of thumb, allow 90 minutes for each table-service meal. Two meals takes 3 hours out of your park touring (or more, if you spend all your time travelling- allow another hour each to travel between parks); three takes 4.5 hours.

We would never schedule more than 1 sit-down meal per day unless we did an early breakfast somewhere and a later dinner somewhere else. Remember- October is still pretty hot & humid and you won't have a big appetite anyway. We've done the regular DDP several times and it's always been too much food, even with just one table-service meal per day.

to the OP............ just keep in mind that every ressie you keep and do not use is one that someone else cannot get and a table will set empty for no good reason...........
