Too late to upgrade?

I'm 43 days out with free QS dining. I decided to upgrade last minute because we wanted to use our Christmas money on it. I called today and she said if I upgrade that I will lose free dining because that promo is closed. I was thinking Disney would jump at the chance to make another $500, but I guess I was wrong. Does anyone know if this is a new rule? Looking back in previous posts, I read that it was ok to upgrade free dining until 2-3 days before the trip.

I would call back.She have thought you wanted to upgrade resorts.

Likely she misunderstood. Call back and ask someone else. Be very specific that you only want to upgrade the dining and not the room.

I agree that you should call back. Dining has to be added (or upgraded) at least 3 days prior to arrival and you are more than that many days out. If you call back and are told you can't do it, ask to speak with someone in Guest Services and they should be able to help you. Even if you wanted to upgrade your resort, that could be done through Guest Services if there was availability at the resort you wanted to change to, even with the free dining promo being expired. Regular reservation CMs cannot access rooms to change a ressie once a promo has expired, but Guest Services can. Good luck .
