Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, hope your as happy as can be!!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

My family of 4 will be going on our first trip WDW this June. We of course are on a tight budget. We are staying ASmovie, for 7 nights. And I've added the dining package.

I didn't reserve a fridge, but after reading post about the amount of food you get, I was wondering if we should spend the extra $70 for the week for the fridge??

We were planning on taking cooler, for extra water, milk, and stuff.
DO YOU THINK WE REALLY NEED A FRIDGE?? :confused3 :confused3

Forgiveness from all please, I've posted this on serveral differn't forms to get as much advise as possible. I need all the help I can get!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks again
Karen :earsgirl:

I think you will be fine with just the cooler. Just keep it iced down and everything should stay cold enough :)

There MAY be a fridge in your room already. I know Disney is in the process of putting refrigerators in all the rooms on property. We stayed at All Stars Music for 2 nights April 29 & 30 and there was a refrigerator in our room, inside the television armoir. Please don't count on getting one, but you just may get lucky!!

I really love having a fridge in the room! We put milk, leftover drinks, and fruit and yogurt in there. We also freeze water (or Propel water) right in the bottles and then take them with us the day. They usually thaw in the a.m. and are still cold! We have had leftovers, but if you are at a park and plan to stay at a park after your meal..they'll go bad anyway. We hardly ever eat leftovers on vacation. We intend to, but usually end up not eating them anyway.

I think you could get away with a cooler..just make sure to replenish the ice. We use ours on the way down for drinks and DD's soy milk (since not a lot ofplaces on the road may have it in the refrigerated case). I'd call first and see if you already has one.

We always stay in Disney's Old Key West, and I have to admit, it's really nice having the fridge in the room for leftovers and snack food. However, if you've got a reasonably sized cooler and don't mind changing the ice once a day or so, you'll be just fine. It's just a little more work, but definitely not $70 worth.

The fridge included with our POR room was set at a temp so warm that while nothing actually spoiled, my kids refused to drink the "warm" milk. There was no freezer area. I had to take the metal racks off the fridge door in order to fit a gallon jug of milk. My parents stayed in the room next to us and had the same problem with warm temp setting so I don't think it was just our fridge. If I had to pay $10 a night for that "convenience" I would definitely skip it and go with the cooler and free ice!

Disney had some kind of plate screwed over the temp control so you could not adjust it yourself. The fridge was probably my biggest complaint about our otherwise wonderful vacation.

We got an electric cooler at Walmart a couple of years ago. It was under $50. It worked out great for us. Probably not if you're flying though. We drove. The cooler plugged into the cigarette lighter for our trip down, then plugged into the wall at the resort. It was wonderful and we will use it again this trip. The best part was not having to fool with the ice. It is about the size of a dorm size fridge (the larger ones).

You can rent a fridge from A Baby's Best Friend (I believe that's the name of the company) for only $50.00 for a week.

They will deliver and pick it up from the baggage check area of your resort.

I had planned to use them last month, but at the last minute decided to just take our cooler. Of course it leaked. We had the same problem last year.

The next time we stay in a value resort, I'll rent one from ABBF.

This thread is running on several boards right now, and the topic of a fridge in the resort room is really not a discussion of WDW Restaurants, so I am closing the topic here. Thank you!
