Diets that aren't followed properly are the ones that don't work. I had a friend who went on a no salt, low carb diet. The reason is, salt retains excess water in your body that you don't need & everyone knows about carbs. After about a month, his abs were pretty cut. But, all my other friends who have tried it have had little success, mainly due to them not doing the proper amounts, exercise, ect. If you have a good exercise plan & a good diet combined, it'll work.
 
For one: Don't think of it as a "diet" think of it as a life-style change. I am "chunky, " I am thirteen almost fourteen I am about 160-165. I have lost at least 20 pounds in the past thinking it was a diet, then I gained it all plus more because I thought it was a "diet." Then, I tried again thinking "okay this is a lifestyle change" and lost about ten pounds and I am still keeping it of and going to try to lose more.

even diet without exercise works.
i completely cut just regular soda from my diet. in a month, i'd lost twenty lbs. that was the only change i made, and i've not gained that weight back. i stayed at my normal activity level, didn't change the rest of the way i ate.

though i don't recommend not doing diet and exercise together, diet works on its own, as does exercise, but the easiest way to lose weight is to combine both.
 

I think Working-Out is the best way, personally. I don't know to much in this field of study..lol but does dieting effect your metabolism? I'm not sure.. but Working Out will get you in shape and get a better metabolism. :D

Well you should be eating good proportions of healthy food and sometimes you are allowed to pig-out. But the best way of working out is push-ups, sit-ups, and running. And while working out change it up and find new variations of what you are doing
