Too Early To Start Planning Again?

I was there in August to celebrate my recent promotion. I had a great time, but it didn't feel like it used to when I was a kid. I really felt rushed due to my time restraints. I crammed 4 parks into 2.5 days. I have about 1.5 hours of video and just some highlight photos. Before last august the last time I was at Disney World was March of 2001. I spent 3 days in Disney and that was the best I could do because of work. This time around it would be different because now I have paid vacations. :)

I started thinking about when would be a good time to go. I would like to go in 2010, but later on in the year. I would stay at the Pop Century again. I guess you could call it a do over.

I also went ahead and started to do the financial side of things I know that late 2010 prices are not up, but my calculations can be adjusted down the road. For the vacation package it would cost around $1200 after taxes. Factor in gas and spending money per day and we are around $1500. I know it does not seem like a lot for our daily spending, but we didn’t even spend $30 a day between the both of us last time. We bring a lot of our own water and have different foods to bring with us. Seeing as though I have roughly 20 months before the proposed trip I could save around $80 a month. I always try to put a little more in each month than the base amount, just to be on the safe side. Souvenir Money is another ball game.

Do you think I am thinking too far ahead?

Well as I am busy researching for and planning a trip for Christmas 2010 I would say no you are not thinking too far ahead!

Agreed. It is never too early to plan the next Disney trip. We have two pending and I'm trying to plan two more. Since I'm always planning ahead I don't miss it as much when we leave- the next trip is only xx days away:lmao:

According to my scheming, we could stay there from December 6 to December 11.
Just be forewarned that the first full week of December is always Pop Warner. They overtake the AS resorts and POR, plus stay at other resorts with their families. I always avoid that week now as I've had unpleasant experiences in the past.

Personally, I'd do the following week, Dec. 13-18. Your anniversary falls during that week and it'll be a little quieter week, although there really are no more quiet weeks in Dec. due to Christmas decorations and shows, value season, etc.

JMHO - enjoy whatever you decide!!! :goodvibes

Thank you for the advice. i found out yesterday that her aunt and uncle might come up to stay with her family for christmas. luckily, that's almost 2 years away still. maybe she misunderstood what year i was talking about.

i like to plan ahead because it gives me something to look forward to. As we were leaving the Pop on that monday in august; as soon as we got out of the parking lot i looked to my fiance and asked when were we going to come back! i think i also asked while we were stopped on the Haunted Mansion on our first night there. i am trying to plan it around the value season. i actually pushed the August trip back 1 week so we would get the value rate.

my dad has always said that i would be a good chess player because i am always trying to think one step ahead. :)

It's never too early to start planning for Disney trips! Right now I have two booked and a third I'm thinking about. I've also got a larger framework and template in mid that I tweak for each year. Here are the details:

My goal is to always have room reservations at a minimum for my next trip before I leave home for the current one. Being a DVC member, that means booking at the 11 month window (and maybe changing at 7 months for variety).

My wife only wants to go to WDW once a (calendar) year, so every 3-4 years we'll through in a trip to Disneyland (CA) to 'reset' the clock.

There are a few times of year I want to go to one park or the other. They are:
Right after Thanksgiving for Christmas decorations.
Mid-Oct.: My BD
Early Sep.: Our anniversary
May/June: EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival & Hollywood Studios Star Wars Weekends
Feb.: My wife's BD

Right now I have trips to WDW booked arriving Nov. 29th '09 and Jan. 31 '10 for DW's BD. Then in Oct. 2010 I plan to go to Disneyland (I'll book that in mid-November '09 - giving me reservations for 3 trips at the same time! That'll be a new record for me!!! :upsidedow )

I'm targeting Sept. 2011 @ WDW w/ some friends the week after our anniv. so we avoid labor Day weekend. Then hopefully May 2012 @ WDW. In 2013 we'll probably do WDW & DL again; not sure which when (one early in the calendar year, the other late). Then we'll repeat the cycle going down my list of seasons...

<Yes, I'm obsessed!> ;)
