Too cold in February??

Hi,
Am planning my first Land/Sea vacation for February 2006. I am concerned that it will be too cold to enjoy time at beaches. We live in CA where the water is never really warm, but hoping Bahamas would be different. If the water is too cold what are options for CC?
Also I would love to hear from anyone with older kids -mine are 11 & 16. Did they enjoy the cruise?

Lisa345 - Our 2 dds 12 and 15 at the time we cruised both loved it. Our now 14 dd wants to go on another disney cruise and have a surpise one scheduled for september. She will be so excited

Perhaps we were unlucky, but last February we froze everywhere...CC was overcast and COLD Grand Cayman was , Cozumel was

We are from the great white north, so we really can take it, Just not on our cruise...

As I said, maybe we were not lucky, and others were, It was enough for me, that i NEVER will travel that early again.. Will wait for warmer temperatures, March is much better...IMHO

i went on a 3 and 4 night cruise in february in 2003 and 2004 and had really hot weather. It was in the 80's and low 90's the whole cruise.

we just did the 4 day cruise at the end of presidents week the weather was real nice mid to upper 70s wife and kids got some nice color. over all I think it just depends on the weather patterns for that year its a hit or miss either way if the weather is not so great there is pleanty to do on the ship.

We were on the Feb 13-17 2005 cruise and had great weather . We had been in Orlando for a week before our cruise at the parks, and the weather ranged from 59 to the mid 70's. Some days it was a bit windy, but most of the time it was nice and sunny. We wore pants and short sleeve shirts with a light weight windbreaker on the cooler days. Shorts and t-shirts the warm days. Luckily our boys have the zip off pants that turn into shorts and they worked out great. The ocean water was kind of chilly in Nassau and Castaway Cay, but our kids got used to it quickly. When we did the blue lagoon dolphin excursion in Nassau, they offered wet suits, and most people used them. By the looks of how crowded the family beach in CC got, no one was bothered by the water temperature. Compared to dripping with sweat when we went to the parks last August, I'd rather go in February in a heartbeat. The parks were much less crowded too (than August).

Lisa, welcome to the DIS! My DW was on the same 4 day as Hanover above and still can't stop rubbing in how nice the weather was. Now the week before I think it was, weather was not good, very rough seas, and I believe they missed docking at CC. Your kids will love it regardless of when you go. Enjoy!

Lisa345 - welcome. We will be sailing Feb. 2006. I, too hope that the weather is warm and sunny . We were in the southwest this past Feb and it rained the whole time (however, it was 50 - 60 degrees warmer then in Maine!!).

We sailed last April and had a great time. The weather was perfect. However, my daughter would swim in the pool late afternoon and several days her lips would be turning blue!! But this is on the ship not on land.

We cruised in February of this year and the weather that time of year is "iffy"...you could get great weather or you could get a week of clouds/rain. We had two nice, but not really hot days, and the rest were cloudy. It was pouring at CC in the morning but the rain stopped midday so we actually got off the ship despite the overcast skies. With the exception of the stingrays, I didn't swim either on the boat or in the ocean. My kids did but shivered a lot.

April or later is much safer if great weather is a priority for you. To me the Caribbean in Jan/Feb. is like Santa Cruz, CA, let's say in late April/May.

We cruised in February 2000 and we had absolutely gorgeous 80 degrees+ weather! We enjoyed the beaches, Castaway Cay, and found it to be extremely enjoyable cruise weather!

Our honeymoon cruise was last February (22 - 26). We had good weather. The water at CC wasn't hot tub warm, but it was in the 70's and swimmable. (Is that a word?) The temperature during the day was in the low to mid 80's. We had rain on our day at sea, but the captain kept driving out around the storm until it was time for everybody to go inside to get ready for early dinner / show. Then he swung a hard left and drove through the rain while we were eating. By the time we were done, the rain was gone, and we had the rest of that last evening to hang out on deck.

We were on the "western" trip the first week of February in 2004. Grand Cayman and Cozumel were nice and warm, but the water at Castaway was cold (like Lake Michigan all summer long). Still had a great time, but not much of it in the water at CC. We were told that our week was the nicest since before Christmas that year, so winter weather is always iffy. It will still be better than the snow coming down outside my window today. Oh well, only 16 days until we are back in the "real world".

We went in late Feb. last year and the weather was nice but far from Hot, It wasn't to cold to swim but the water was cold and when the sun wasn't out it felt quite cool at times.

Our next cruise we have planned for April.

We went first week of February on the Western and it was soooooooooo hot and humid. Mid to upper 90s.
