I've heard that you can get some really cute things done at the Main Street Barber Shop for girls, too. Any one have any pictures to prove it to my daughters?

I have 2 daughters. We did not do the BBB. We saw some girls who did. WHile cute-some of them were over the top. The hair styles was glued looking to the head and covered in sparkles, then a little crown was stuck to the head. this is in the June heat. What I did for my daughters was got to Libby Lu before we left town and purchase crowns. We pulled out the princess dresses left from halloween. I put no makeup on them-in 90 degree weather it will not stay on. I did there hair and we went and ate with the princesses. They were adorable this way. This pic was taken at Epcot.

Hope these help. :)

I don't like to post pictures of my DD, but I have done both the Mainstreet Barber Shop for her and a do-it-yourself BBB hairstyle for a P&PP. My DD got way more comments on her Barbershop do since it was so brightly colored -- she chose pink and purple for her colors. We got her hair cut in addition to the colors and pixie dust and with tip it cost $20. She loved it and I loved the price :thumbsup2

For my own BBB style I used my own hairspray and some loose body glitter. I pulled her hair in a high pony-tail, pulled it partly though and seperated it out to resemble a top bun. Then I sprayed it a bunch (my DD has very fine hair) and put some of the loose glitter on. The glitter and the hair stayed all night long. I didn't buy a tiara for her, but if I had to do it again I would. It wasn't a total replica of the BBB styles, but since my DD is only 3 it didn't really matter to either one of us. Oh -- and my DH was pleased with the way it turned out since she looked cute, but not over the top.

1) Main Street Barber Shop is an excellent alternative to BBB.
2) I still can't see parents paying up to $249+tip, when MSBS is $20-$24, incl tip.

I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am, but didn't the MainSteet Barber Shop stop doing the whole style & color thing when BBB opened at the castle?

My daughter doesn't care for BBB. Truth be told, neither do I, however some of the little princesses I saw walking around last month were adorable! I'm not a big fan of the headpieces they put on the kids though.

I did the samy DIY BBB style for my daughter. No makeup, just put her hair up. We didn't have a crown and she wouldn't have kept it in anyway. We used a fluffy Cinderella Blue Ponytail holder with flowers we found and made the fake bun with her pony. As you can see, she looked cute.

She had just turned 2 at the time, so BBB really wasn't an option for us anyway. Next time when she turns 4 though...

I think we're definitely going to try the Barber Shop next spring for DD, before our CRT lunch. I'm not big on BBB - the cost, or some of the hairstyles, they just look painful to me, very tight. Here's a link to a TR I was following that really interested me in the BS: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1781789&page=6 Scroll down a bit and you'll see the ADORABLE hairstyle the little girl got. I love it! Fun, very cute, and still very little-girl in my opinion. Scroll down a bit further and you'll see where the kind poster answered a bunch of my questions about the whole experience!! HTH!

On our trip at the end of May, we saw two little girls getting their hair done at the barber shop. I only have boys, but the dos sure looked as cool as the BBB dos that I saw other little girls sporting. If I had a daughter, I would do the Barber Shop and save some money!

I believe it was $7.99 for the hairstyle. They put the carriages into the colored gel then sprinkle the glitter all over the rest of the head. The gel took a while to dry and then took about 3 washings to get it all out. They didn't use any hairspray on them.

Love the barber shop! All 4 of us had it done in September and we loved it. It saves us a lot of time and money.

What exactly do they do for little boys at the barber shop? Does anyone have a picture to share??

I think we paid about $45 for our BBB. We just did the hair/make up thing. She still got a goodie bag of stuff, a photo op at the little photo studio, and the experience is really cool.

They told me that they no longer do elaborate -like updos at the barber shop. They will style and put some cool glitter, but no updos. They are not allowed since BBB opened.

Those boy "styles" are cool too!! DS always has a very short buzz, so no gel or spikes for him, but those Mickey's are cool!

But the budgeteer in me is thinking, "How can I make my own hair paint like that????" :thumbsup2

We're at Disney for 10 days. DD wears a uniform to school, so she just has the summertime to be wild and crazy with her hair. If I could figure out where to buy or how to make that paint, I could do her hair every stinking day! LOL!

ETA: Okay, I found this so far. It only has one review, but it seems maybe the poster had a bad batch or something...?? Looks like it would work, and it's only $7! Now to find it B&M. http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Friends-Hair-Paint-Kit/dp/B000HZYTCS

But what about the glitter??? Is it regular glitter "glued" on with hairspray? Anyone know???

I believe Target has some glitter spray for skin. It might also show up on hair too. I don't know if you have a Sally Beauty Supply, but I bet they might have something similar. They are inexpensive and very helpful too!

This is what DH and DS had done. DH had mickey glitter on the top of his head too. LOL

Thanks for sharing those with me. They look really good. I'm quite certain my DS4 will not want to do that. It would totally be "mommy" wanting him to do it.
