Tony's Town Square-- Is it really that bad?

I've read some not-so-favorable reviews here lately, and I had planned on getting a PS (or AR, whatever they're called now) on my next trip. I'd like all the opinions I can get (good or bad).

We ate there in 2000 and really enjoyed it. Ate there this year in early June and it was not really bad, but I felt it was very overpriced for the menu choices, quality of food and level of service. I won't go back. I wouldn't consider it "bad", but a very poor value considering the other choices you have at MK.

Tony's is mediocre at best and definately not worth the money. The chef from Tony's was on our 14 night disney cruise this past may, doing a couple seminars. Even the items he did on the ship were horrible, absolutely horrible. One of them being the so called famous spinach dip from the restaurant. Mine dip is 10 times better, lol. Hubby and I just laughed.

is it really horrible or just not as good as other restaurants. I can't imagine something 'bad' at Disney surviving.

I hate to say it cause I so wanted to like Tony's due to the theming but we were unimpressed. We found the food bland and were disappointed with everything we ordered. The only bright spot was the bread and marinara dip.

If you go hope you have a better meal than we did.

I am in the minority. We had lunch there in May and I was pleasently surprised. Italian is my least favorite by far and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the cheese pizza (all white cheeses), my sister had the grilled vegetable sandwich...yum. My mom ordered a vegetable pasta and we all agreed she picked the best item. It was beautiful weather so we asked for an outside table and ended up with the perfect seats for the parade.

I am interested in what the people who didn't like the restaurant had to eat. I'm a "plain" eater...so I'd probably go with the regular old spaghetti. Anyone have that?

As I've mentioned before, this used to be our very favorite, but the last two or three meals there have put us off for good. I can't recall what we all had last time, but I know that I had the spaghetti, because there was nothing on the menu that seemed interesting. I asked for it without the meat ball, and it was basically a bowl of so-so pasta and sauce, which they still charged full price of $18 something for. And I found the staff mostly all real snits. Just no where near where it had been in service or standards. We used to have one of our all time favorite waiters there, George, who has moved, so they say, to a different restaurant also. Actually, none of the staff who used to be there are there anymore, as far as we've seen. Until there starts being a real number of positive reviews here, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else.

Tony's and Mickeys Backyard Barbeque are the only two places that we won't eat again. I was so disappointed in Tony's because I loved the theming. MBYB was a disaster from beginning to end.

Food blah for the price and not much of a selection. The waiter that we had was very snooty. I was very disappointed and won't go back.

I'm one of the few that likes Tony's. When we were there in March I had the best veal chop I've had in a long time. We've never ordered the spaghetti which I see a lot of complaints about taste and price. You have to try a place for yourself. If I listened to all the bad reviews posted on these boards I'd have trouble finding anywhere to eat. And would have missed out on places we really like. Just like a restaurant at home you've got to try it, people have very different tastes. Also what most according to the posts consider over priced and expensive are just the norm for us. That may have to do with location.

We also ate there in March and we really enjoyed it! I had a chicken dish that was really good, my dh had a steak that he really enjoyed! My ds even enjoyed the kids spagetti and he is picky! I have a lunch AR for our trip in Aug! I would definetaly encourage you to trty TTS! :Pinkbounc

Tony's is one of my children's favorite places to eat (kids are 8 and 11). My husband and I enjoy it too! But then again, we also love Donald's Breakfastosaurus -- which also gets bad reviews!

I won't say it was "awful" but I definately don't plan on ever going back. There were soooo many people there and we had a PS and still had to wait over an hour to be seated (and didn't get a table near the front windows as requested. We ordered a few appetizers and a pizza for the kids and the spaghetti. Everything was just... basic... and nothing special. It was something I could have fixed at home and would have been much better.

With so many other great places to eat, I'd recommend skipping Tony's.

We wont ever eat there again!

DH & I tried Tony's a couple of times over the past few years. We have really tried to like it because of the theming & it is one of only 2 non character table service dinners in the MK!

But the food is SO bad. :crazy2:

I dont understand how they can actually call that stuff they serve "sauce"! :confused3

Alot of mixed reviews, I see  ! I guess it really depends on individual taste and the attitude of the staff that day.

I'll let my DB know what I read here, and we'll talk it over to see if we want to give it a try. Thanks for your reviews, everyone!

DS and I ate there on his birthday in February. The day before, we ate at Pecos Bills, which was a nightmare (this was the day prior to the start of Presidents' Weekend), couldn't find a table, didn't get all of our food, etc. So I said to DH (who was in a Conference), I have to have a PS for table service tomorrow! Let me tell you~we had a great experience at Tony's. DS had kids spaghetti, I had soup and sandwich. I paid $1 more there than I paid at Pecos Bills (excluding tip). To be seated inside (with no BIRDS), to have all our food, free refills, etc~I found it to be well worth the extra dollar plus tip.

We ate there in October - we were with my parents, and this was where they picked to treat us to dinner. I thought my food was very good (I don't remember what it was called, but it was an eggplant dish). As most others have said though, I thought it was very overpriced compared to some of the other restaurants. The service was not bad, but it was very busy and the waiter was not very attentive to us, and it took a looong time to get our food.

It sounds like lunch might be a better value than dinner.

We ate there in May and I really liked the food. Our waitress was great and even offered to get Ladyt and teh TRamps autographs(paw prints) for DD. I got a salmon dish that was excellent. My in-laws both got spagetti and liked taht too. Here is DD and I being Lady and the Tramp and two others from our lunch.

We ate there last May, mostly because we needed to change our PS, and had no other choices available. All in all, I have to say, not bad. I had the eggplant dish (also can't remember the name, I think rotelle) which I thought was very good. The kids had pizza, and my DH and DSis has stuff that they enjoyed (but I can't remember). My one problem, what's Italien food without a glass of red wine! But, I can get over that.
