Okay as crazy as this might sound...one of my favorite things from last years trip was the sauce for the bread at Tony's....that stuff was awesome. My wife and I were watching our home video of the trip and I was even on their commenting on the sauce. So, I am wondering does anyone know if they are still serving this sauce....that is if anyone else even saves a place in their memory for a bread sauce :wave2:

I don't know if they're still serving it or not, but just wanted to say that I don't think your crazy at all! I crave that stuff all the time between visits, and it's actually one of the main reasons we eat there. It's sooo good!

Is this it:

Tony's Town Square Sun Dried Tomato Pesto

4 oz olive oil (lupi brand)
4 oz sundried tomatoes (rehydrated till tender)
2T Italian parsley chopped
2T fresh basil
1T fresh chopped garlic
2 oz grated parmesan cheese
2 oz chopped pinenuts
2 oz balsamic vinegar
1T tomato paste
3 oz crushed canned tomato
2 oz red wine
1 oz diced white onion
salt to taste

yield: 2.5 cups

method:
First rehydrate sundried tomatoes by soaking in warm water for a few
minutes until tender. Place basil, garlic, pinenuts, parsley, onion, and
sundried tomatoes in food processor or blender. Puree until well
incorporated. Add all remaining ingredients except parmesan and olive
oil. Once again puree until incorporated. Finally, stir in olive oil and
parmesan cheese, salt to taste.

The sauce is awesome! We were there in Sept. and they were still serving it. Hope this helps!

Our favorite also. We always go there for lunch and get the pasta - but no break and pesto sauce anymore for lunch - only with supper - no if's or but's - they just wouldn't give us any - BOOOO

When I start craving that sauce between visits to WDW, I buy the sundried tomato pesto sauce & spread made by Classico. It is found on the aisle with pasta sauces. So it's not exactly the same, but it is very much like the one at Tony's and it holds me over until I can get back.

We were there on 12/7 and had the wonderful dipping sauce that was mentioned here. I'm going to try to make it for Christmas eve.

We have had that sauce and love it too!!! But, when we were there for lunch this past Nov. they didn't serve it. They had breadsticks with marinarra sauce. Still yummy, but not as good as the other sauce!

Just bought all the ingredients and made the sauce. I am going to put it over pasta tonight. It came out wonderful, a bit thicker than it was there, but that is ok, would be great spread on italian bread. I can adjust the recipe if I want to make it thinner for dipping. I'm going to make some big batches of it this week and give it to family members with their Christmas gift.

I was wondering about the hot or cold aspect. When we ate there, we weren't sure if it was supposed to be cold. We certainly didn't expect it to be cold...I think it would be better if it were warm.
