Tony's Town Square at MK

Few places get as many reviews that are polar opposites as Tony's. We've always lived by the "try anything once" mentality and made up our own minds.

We really liked our meal at Tony's, mostly because of the service. Our waitress was awesome and we had a beautiful table on the patio where we were able to watch (at the time) the MSEP go by. Our food was good. It's hard to compete with some of the other Italian restaurants on property, but it served its purpose. For us, it was much more about the ambiance than anything else.

I currently have dinner reservations at Tony's on Feb 16 at 6:30pm. I wasn't able to get any character dining at this time. Does Tony's have good food and service? It will be me, hubby, and 7 year old daughter. We all love Italian food.

NOTE1: The staff friendliness and the eatery atmosphere are good, but misleading, as the food is not something to write home about. Meats are average for the Italian entrées, but akin to CHEF BOY AR DEE - using CHEF BOY AR DEE could be considered an insult to the famous chef from Cleveland, Ohio. The sauce may be tomato, but it is definitely not a true marinara. The appetizers are average. In a pinch, Tony's might do, but there are far better choices. On the plus side, the desserts are simple, but pretty darn good. Hard to justify going the first time, let alone going back.
.
NOTE2: If available, one can ask for a outdoor patio table. However, it is not a good place to view parades, even though one might think so.

I went to Tony's for the first time last month (9/27/16). I was not looking forward to going after reading some of the reviews but it was my brother in law's choice so we all went. I was very pleasantly surprised. The only issue we had was that they tried to seat 7 of us at a table that was meant for 4, and this was at 11:35am and the restaurant was empty. We asked for a larger table and they accommodated. Our server was excellent, he kept drinks filled and was very informative of the menu. Three of us got chicken parm, two got cannelloni, one got a flatbread and I can't remember what the last one got.... We all enjoyed the meals. The bread with oil was an excellent starter. Is it high end food? No, but was it enjoyable? Yes.

This thread is encouraging.

Originally I had booked 1900 park fare, but we are already doing lots of buffets and character meals, and SIL loves Italian, so I switched to Tony's. Then I read the reviews and got a bit scared.

I'm not expecting Tutto Italia quality, just decent food and an enjoyable meal. We love Olive Garden, FWIT

Our family of 7 went last year after not going for many years. We went at lunch time and weren't expecting amazing things and we all loved it! The flatbread pizzas were really good, I had a pasta dish that was very good, someone had a salad and liked it. So basically, we ate a variety of things off the menu and EVERYONE in our group from kinda picky tween to my 70+ mother all loved it. It would be our first choice sit down restaurant (after BOG;)) in MK for all of us. :)

Thanks everyone for the reviews and feedback on Tony's! I'm not expecting 5 star dining at WDW. Like someone else posted, I'd be fine if it's like Olive Garden type food. I think I will give the restaurant a try because I've had a couple other friends say that it was good, too.

We just went for the first time last week. Have been avoiding because of the bad reviews but decided to give a try since we've tried everything else. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it. We had the parade package on the dining plan (not sure if that's worth it if paying out of pocket, but we thought it was a great value on the dining plan since we were eating there anyway and could get the app too and parade seating). Service was great. Food was not the best we've ever had, but pretty good. We'll definitely eat here again.

With all of the recent reviews skewing in a positive, "better than expected" manner, I'm wondering if a change was made in the kitchen. Part of me wonders if they made a change in kitchen staff or rather FINALLY changed the red sauce that has been problem #1 with Tony's for years on end. A lot of the negative reviews seemed to say that the sauce was an absolute meal killer.

We're debating finally going ourselves in January as we'll always try anything once, but with so many options on property Tony's always gets pushed to the back of the line. This might finally be the trip we try it out!

I would say Victoria and Albert's is 5-star. Just below is Jiko, Sanaa, Swan and Dolphin bluezoo, and California Grill. All others are good to average, with most in the latter category. EVERYthing is overpriced, however.

I agree about the sauce...that was our problem. We went twice years ago and swore we'd never return. My chicken parm looked like they opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it on. Maybe it's time we tried it again.

I'm amazed to see some positive reviews of Tony's. Perhaps the earth's orbit has shifted???

Thanks for this: "'really good most people are gonna like it' Italian food..." - I wasn't sure but this review helps. Looking forward to it.

While this restaurant tends to get tough reviews, my family and I love it here. We always have great service, good food, and a relaxing enjoyable meal! I always say it isn't high end Italian food, but "really good most people are gonna like it" Italian food. Enjoy!

Being born and raised in an italian neighborhood, for us Tony's was horrible and one-and-done.

Sorry I don't - for me, its like trying to find a good bagel in NJ - its near impossible. But people born and raised here like them - I say its just because they dont know better. LOL

Do you have a favorite Italian at WDW? I'm not a huge Italian fan (don't hate me) but I enjoyed Tutto.

I couldn't find a non buffet, mk dinner spot, so we are stuck with Tony's for now...keep hoping that a BOG opens up. I was about to make a similar thread when I saw this one. keeping my fingers crossed.

there's always Liberty Tree and Skipper Canteen (never ate at either so can't comment, but heard are good) and Plaza is one of my favorites.

It's decent. If I was doing to MK and someone insisted on eating there, I would not object.

I definitely recommend the chocolate-hazelnut cake for dessert. It was really good.

Our server was just okay. But we enjoyed our food.

Now, as others have said, it isn't the best Italian that you will ever have. But it was good.

And they actually had decent gluten free rolls. And when they brought them out, the rolls were warm.
