Tony's out of Way?

I would like to have lunch at Tony's (I know it isn't a favorite on the Disboards but I have fond memories from when I was a kid and want to go back), but with DD 4, is it really too much out of our way? We have a 10:55 FP Haunted House and 12:45 FP Splash Mountain with plan to get lunch in between and after Splash see parade in Frontierland. I currently have Liberty Tree booked (just to have some quiet time for a meal and for DH to get a beer) but am considering Tony's if possible. TIA!

Tony's is at the very beginning of Mainstreet right after you enter MK. If you use HM FP right at 10:50 (can enter 5 min early) then head to Tonys if you get a ressie that works you should have plenty of time to get to SM before your FP expires at 1:45pm. It's more a matter of whether you want to do all that walking. LTT is a better option as far as location is concerned.

Have you considered the Tony's Parade package? I just booked it for our upcoming trip, 1:15 reservation and then reserved seating for the parade at 3:00. If you are on the dining plan it's a great value.

Otherwise, if you want to watch the parade in Frontierland, LT is a good decision. We had a 1:20 reservation there last year, walked out after eating and only waited 10 minutes for the parade in a decent spot.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. That's a LOT of walking. I see you are going in February which means, unfortunately, the train will still be in refurb. If it were running, this would be much more doable.

Are you planning on staying there all day? Could you do dinner there instead? Or make an ADR for around the time you think you will be leaving and just get dessert and coffee? At least then you could go inside.

If you want to eat there, I would do it. We actually prefer Tony's to LTT and while it is a walk, as long as the ADR we want is inside the park we are in for that day, we don't hesitate to book it. Plus, since you will be sitting down and eating- you will be refreshed before the walk back to Splash.

It's definitely out of the way, but it's manageable. I've never been to a liberty Tree so I can't compare the two. We ate at Tony's in 2015 and we really liked it. We waited a bit for our seats but I thought the food was good. Our kids loved it.[/QUOTE]

Food is kind of relative. We all have different options depending on where we live and different levels of cooks in our families so an italian family with amazing 10th generation red sauce or someone living near an amazing italian restaurant is not going to have the same experience as someone who doesn't. also they got beat down by all the vloggers not that long ago so it's possible disney wised up, I don't think any of them reviewed it since there was a noticable wave of improvements all around property this year.

The food at Tony's isn't really BAD, as much as it just isn't really good. I work in a Pizzaria / restaurant, and know good Italian food. Theirs is not good, but it is no worse than what you should expect from a chain Italian restaurant.

As for being doable, it is, but it will be quite a bit of walking. I might be tempted to do LTT for lunch since it is a much more convenient location, and then perhaps do Tony's for supper.

Have they started serving beer at LTT yet? I remember hearing that alcohol was going to be expanding into the other restaurants but don't know which ones or when. I know if I were looking forward to a beer and it wasn't available I would be cranky. No one wants a cranky DH!

I saw on their online menu that LT is serving beer now. We are not on the dining plan since our DD4 does not eat much and is picky. We will have the stroller for her so could zip to Tony's. I wanted to do LT but then they changed the menu and we don't want the AYCTE now!

Tony's (and most of the main street dining) ..just feels like a dinner place to me. There is no way I'd want to walk all the way back to the beginning of the park for lunch UNLESS I was planning on heading out right after that for an afternoon break or park hop.

I don't think the getting there will be an issue, but the time there will be the killer. They are often behind, and service is not fast.

You will be adding a bit more walking to your day by coming back to the front of the park for Tony's, but I really don't find that to be that big a deal, it's only a few minutes. You could always take the train after lunch from Main St. back to Frontierland which will get you close to Splash Mountain. Takes a bit longer than walking, but it's a fun attraction in itself and will save the feet a bit. Timing wise, you'll be fine. I would make the ADR for about 11:40 which gives you 2 hours to eat and get back to Splash Mountain for your FP, which is plenty of time.

We actually like Tony's. It is quiet and an easy lunch reservation. We typically plan meeting Mickey afterwords. And our young daughters love collecting character signatures. If you ask the waiter they will take your book back to kitchen. Because Lady and the Tramp are in on the back.

I know the actual Italian has been complained about, but I enjoyed their NY strip last year.

My DD really wants to meet Tinkerbell so my plan is to do both then. That is so cool about the autograph books! Thanks for the tip!

After the parade we plan to return to the hotel. Our daughter is 4 and will need a rest!
