On our arrival day we will hit the magic kingdom for a few hours. I would like to have dinner there and have it narrowed down to Tony's or the Plaza. (We have CP for breakfast and CRT for dinner on our 2nd MK day)
We love Lady and the Tramp, is the theming really tied to the movie? (any pics?)
Is the menu at the Plaza the same for dinner as it is for lunch?
Thanks

I was at tony's at the end of january - there are two dining areas - the main dining hall, which is stale and not some place i'd enjoy sitting. although it does have a fountain featuruing lady and the tramp (however the fountain needs some major updating). then there's the solarium. this is where i ate and i enjoyed it greatly. much nicer setting, and the windows are set with images of lady and the tramp - if you go to tony's i'd highly suggest requesting the solarium... and getting the chicken parm. its tasty!

I would vote Tony's for you! Not that the Plaza isn't great, but its mainly sandwiches and light fare such as that. The menus at Tony's vary slightly from lunch to dinner, but the food really is great. I had an eggplant rollitini there one time that was fantastic!! The menus do change though at any given time. When you walk into the restaurant there is a Lady and the Tramp statue in the foyer and in the waiting room they have the movie usually playing on a TV for you to watch while waiting! I like that restaurant a lot!

We have eaten lunch at Tony's in the solarium. We always try to time lunch so we can watch a parade going by while we eat. Our whole family loves eating there and we think it is a bit better than the Plaza.

My family really enjoys the Plaza (yummy sandwiches, burgers and ice-cream), but I think it is better for lunch than dinner... so I vote for Tony's. Despite the mixed reviews, we had a delicious dinner there. Not fine Italian food, but good enough for our taste! We did feel a bit rushed, as they try to turn over the tables quickly, but would definitely go back.

We love both! I tend to think of the Plaza as more of a lunch place though, so I'd say Tony's.

Agreed. If you're really looking for a sit-down dinner, then it's Tony's. If you're looking for better-than-average sandwiches, great desserts and a small dining room, then go with the Plaza.

Tony's is always MUCH more hectic, so if you want calm/quiet, then maybe the Plaza would be better.

As with all restaurants, my advice would be to try it and decide if it goes on your list of dos or don'ts ;)

I'd vote for Tony's. While I enjoyed both, Tony's always appeals to me more. We've always had great meals there, and it feels like a better deal on the dining plan. Also, it's full of pictures of Lady & the Tramp, so you'll love the atmosphere.

The Plaza is more of a lunch destination to us.

You could always eat in one of the resort restaurants on the MK loop, such as the Grand Floridian Cafe (then take the boat to the MK), 1900 Park Fare, The Wave, etc.

We had the SAME decision to make too! On our arrival day (April) we are heading into MK just to walk around and soak up the atmosphere.....we already have CP , and LTT for another day.....so WE opted for The Plaza!!! We know that its often thought of as a lunch place, but after a day of traveling and being up very early, the thought of a huge meal was not sounding like a good idea:confused3 We will EASE ourselves into the DISNEY DINING PIG OUT that will follow:rotfl2: hope this perspective helps!

We ate a both in June. A million times over I would choose the Plaza. Yes, it is mostly sandwiches...but they were awesome, as were the desserts. The food at Tony's was terrible. :sad2:

I love Tony's. We eat there every trip. There are Lady and the Tramp pics up around the restaurant, and there is a beautiful fountain of them in the middle of the restaurant. I know there's a lot of mixed reviews of Tony's on the DIS, but we've honestly never had a problem.

Never been to the Plaza but we did not like Tony's. It was not the worst meal, just nothing special for us. We have not given it a second chance.
