Here's the story: We have 5:15 ADRs at Tony's on the night we go to MNSSHP. I thought this was the best option since we were not thrilled with LTT's menu last visit. We'll have length of stay passes, so we were planning on getting to the MK early (3:00ish), in full costume (Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swan, Peter Pan & Tinkerbell!) since changing at the MK would be an absolute pain. Just carrying the costumes there would be a pain.

So, I booked Tony's since we'd already be in the MK. Although we are not pickey eaters, the opinions on Tony's have not been rave and have me wondering about it

Yet, I've heard so many positive things about Kona that I was beginning to get sad that we weren't eating there. But I'm thinking that spending 2 hours in MK, then traveling over to Poly, only to return to the MK would be too much.

SOOOO, what would you do? :confused3 Stick with Tony's, or change to Kona?

I vote for Tony's for convenience/location, atmosphere (Lady & the Tramp), and the food.

I loved my steak and the Creme Brulee was YUM!

Honestly I don't think I would let bad reviews change your mind. I have read good things about Tonys as well as not so good. But until you try it yourself you will never know if you like it or not

I booked this venue cause DH liked the cats from the movie, so theming was perfect for that, and also for spectromagic, and this is one I HONESTLY wished I had changed after knowing the reviews. Both me and DH left pretty much full entrees, and desserts on our plates. My chicken florentina was lukewarm at best, and the cheese on top had already started to harden and lood like shiney plastic, and did not taste all that good, DH ordered the famous meatballs and sgettie, and it was not really good, the meatballs was basic ones I can make, and the sauce was not great. The dessert was tiramisu it had NO flavor and was very very bland, the lemon crunch cake was still hard when they served it like it was not thawed fully. Sorry to be so down on the place the theme was cute, but the food was just not good. I don't think we will be trying Tony's again for a while.

I'd go with Konas. The last time we ate at Tony's (May '06) it was pretty bad. We too left most of our food on our plates, then had to grab a snack later. The food was just lukewarm at best. Kona always gets excellent reviews.

I agree with this. One you will never know if you like it until you try it. We tried it last September and it was our least favorite meal. We wont be eating there again. However, I have a friend who tried it last month and he and his wife loved it.

Go with your gut instinct and have fun at MNSSHP!

We did Tony's before MNSSHP 2005 and thought the food was average at best. We are doing Kona this year before the P&P party in August.

ETA: In full costume too!

Maybe you should get the earliest seating possible at Kona and eat there before you enter the MK for the party. That way you're not traveling back and forth and might actually come out ahead time-wise. I'm sure you'd still have plenty of time for MNSSHP and would probably make it in around 6pm.

I have ressies for Kona Cafe by 5 pm; should be on the monorail to the Halloween party by 6:30 at least.....we love Kona's.

I agree! We actually did Tony's last year before MNSSHP, and found the food to be OK, but not great. The kids didn't really like the pizza. It took up alot of time too-it took a good couple of hours from checking in until we left (our PS was around 5:00.) We felt that it took up too much of our valuable park-party time! Doing it again this year-this time we are doing our ts meal for lunch, and cs for dinner at MK! That way we are not in a rush. Doing Kona for an earlier dinner and then going over to MK is a excellent idea too!

Thanks for all of your opinions! I'll talk to DH about it tonight, show him the menus, then we'll make a decision.

It's our sleep-in & pool morning, then DD & I have a 1:00 reservation at BBB, so we'll be in DTD for a while that afternoon. I'm hoping for the four of us to get a photo session in at the Kodak place after our BBB appt. before going over to the MK. Maybe even use that for our Christmas card photo!

Id go with Tony's. We really enjoyed Tony's the last time we ate there. Thought the food was good and the service was great. Plus I think it will just be more convenient for you. I personally didn't care for Kona that much. It was ok, and the service was lacking IMO.

I liked Tony's but I am in no rush to eat there again. On the other hand, I would have another meal at Kona in a heartbeat. We had our meal there before the P&P party and it worked out well for us. Just hopped on the monorail after dinner.

We ate at Kona's last year before MNSSHP, the food was outstanding! Remember Kona is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from MK by taking the monorail or the boat. I can't remember which one we took, I think the boat. But either way I was impressed and glad we chose Kona. Hubby said it was a must do on our trip this December. And like last year for MNSSHP we are making an ADR for before we head over for MVMCP.:santa:

Honestly, the choice you make should be more of what you want to do, over other people's opinions. Which has a better menu to you? Do you mind leaving the park? etc... Have fun! I loved MNSSHP! BOO TO YOU! Oh that so will get stuck in your head!:rotfl: Me and hubby still sing that song.

DH & I ate at Tony's before MNSSHP in Sept. '06, and we ate there one other time in October '05. We loved it!! Our food was wonderful, and the dessert I had there in September (the ice cream bomb) was the best dessert I had on the entire trip!

I know that Tony's gets mixed reviews, but for us, we love it, and we would do it again any time we could fit it in! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about location, but Tonys was awful when we were there Sept 06. DS loves spaghetti and he would not eat it. We actually went to Casey's and had hot dogs right after cause no one ate their meal.

Given your scenario of being at the MK, leaving, and then coming back for MNSSHP I would go with Tony's. I know a lot of people don't like it, but we had a wonderful meal there in December, right before MVMCP and the convenience alone was worth it. But we also really enjoyed the food! I love Kona but just think your plan of being in the MK before and after dinner sounds a bit of a pain. Now if you were just planning on going to Kona first, then the MK that might be different. Because Kona's food is amazing (no atmosphere however). I would just make sure that if you do go with Kona's you get back to the MK by 6:00. The lines can get long getting into the party. If you stick with your Tony's idea, you will already be there so it wouldn't matter. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Well, I talked it over with DH, & we're moving the ADR to Kona. Things got kind of changed around for us that day, anyway, since the BBB is opening another salon in Cinderella's Castle. I want to take DD there, so it's thrown a wrench into the works a bit. We may just bring our costumes with us to the MK, stash them in a locker, then change somewhere at the Poly before the party. Whatever happens, it will be fun.

Thanks again for all of your comments!
