Tony's? Is it really bad? really?

Tony's isn't bad.... it's just the pasta sauce that is horrific!
We always enjoy our meal there - love the meatballs, actually!
But oh, that sauce is pretty lousy.
While the food tastes nothing like Olive Garden - I still rate it as similar. So-so italian food - which we really enjoy at both places in spite of it all!

But really, everythign we've found great at Tony's... just the sauce is the exception!
This hit it. Thats exactly the problem, this is what i think killed both of our dishes. Just awful.

Admittedly, I haven't eat Chef Boyardee, since I was a child. It must have improved by leaps & bounds since then, if it's better than Tony's. I'm not trying to pick on you at all, & this isn't personal. I just can't imagine how bad food would have to be to make it impossible to swallow. I've eaten some bad food in my lifetime, but it's never been bad enough for me to spit it out in public. Tony's definitely doesn't serve the worst food I've ever tried to eat.
Lol. I dunno what to tell you, I really couldnt swallow that meatball, it was that bad. Like I said, I think thats the only time ive actually done that at disney. I delicately and discreetly pretended to wipe my mouth with a napkin while spitting out the food. LOL! For the record, I havent had chef boyardee in eons....I fed it to my son once years ago and remember tasting it and thinking, hmmmm, its not too horrible. Which is why i compare the two, i'd much rather eat that than Tony's! Funny enough, ppl who go to Tony's and order non-tomato based dishes seem to like their food. So I think thats the way to go. Stay away from anything with tomato sauce. Although how sad is that, giving that kind of advice for an italian restaurant?

I was really nervous to keep our Tony's ADR on our first trip to WDW back in October because of all of the horrible reviews....well, we must have really low expectations of food because we all loved it :lmao: (me, DB/f, DS, and my parents). Most of us got the chicken parm- it was HUGE portions and we loved it. Service was fantastic (of course all our ADRs were on "off-times")- our waiter was so fabulous that we had to give him an extra tip and go to the front desk to rave about him. Dessert was delicious- I really liked my tiramisu...but i wished i got the pistachio one. Soooo good.

There were many ADRs I was nervous about because I hadn't read good reviews- Coral Reef, 50s Prime Time, Le Cellier for lunch, 1900 Park Fare for breakfast..... most of the meals we found to be incredible and not one did we find to be inedible. Like I said- maybe we have low expectations? We even loved the seafood buffet....and being from New England, we have high expectations of seafood! My best advice...don't be nervous about trying ANY ADR...go try it and decide for yourself! I think lots are people are overcritical, with prob a few genuine bad experiences mixed in. But no restaurant is going to kill you- so try it for yourself! Maybe you'll like it! :thumbsup2

Thats just my opinion. Its not an exaggeration. Its bad Italian food.

As you've said, its your opinion that its bad based on your experience. We had a pretty bad experience at Via Napoli yet many others say how great it is. Had a terrible experience at Teppan Edo, others say its great. Had a bad time at Le Chefs, others say its their favorite. I've heard how bad Ohana's is, bad service, dried out meats etc. Its one of our favorites with never a bad time.

Point is, food and overall dining enjoyment is very subjective to what one likes or dislikes as well as their experience on any particular day. As for Tony's, its not our favorite but we've always had a decent meal with great service there and for us, its FAR better than Chef Boy Ardee, no comparison...and thats my opinion!

Got a reservation there March 3. I'm SO VERY curious to try it after all I've been reading. I think it's the only place at MK where I haven't eaten (other than seasonal places) so nothing will sway me from trying -- but like I said, I'm very curious to try it.

Thats the point I was trying to make. We all have different opinions on a place. Thats your opinion, and this is mine. You love it, I hate it. You think its better than chef boyardee, I dont. I cant tell you your wrong, cause thats your opinion. Just like its not fair for the other person to say im exaggerating because in my humble opinion, I think its bad italian food. I really couldnt swallow that meatball. Lol! But thats just me. To each his own right.
