I've been lurking on most of the Tony's threads for months now. I have always wanted to try eating there, as I love Italian food. But this whole "crunchy" spaghetti thing has me pretty worried. Has anyone NOT had crunchy spaghetti? Do they have pizza? How's that? I want all the gory details. ;)

I have not seen the "crunchy spaghetti" thread but I ate there on May 17th and ordered spaghetti and it wasn't crunchy at all. Might have been a hair al dente but definately not cruchy.

Thanks, that's encouraging. I can deal with al dente.:D

You are welcome and just try finishing off the 3/4 pound meatball!!!!!

We were there in Oct. and had the Chicken parmesan. It came with fettucine noodles I think, and it was absolutely delicious!!! Open your hand as wide as you can and that's about how big the chicken breast was!!! My dd had pizza off the kid's menu, and it was excellent also. We were there because of the refurb at CP for a character lunch. I had never tried Tony's before and now it is dh's favorite!! Give it a shot!

I would go back for the pizza alone! Marvelous!

DH had a peanut-butter-and-grape-jelly cooler. It was .... different. (I sampled some of his. Isn't marriage great? ;) ) Nothing like I'd ever had before. I'd bet kids would love it. The Lady and the Tramp glass would have made it worth trying.

Since Im one of those "crunchy spaghetti" people, Ill try to explain. ;)
The spaghetti itself wasnt hard, it was cooked ok, but on top of the sauce there was a ton of green crunchy stuff. Im all for a little sprig of parsley on top or spices in the sauce, but this was like a whole layer of crispy leaves on top of the sauce.
Thats just my interpretation, take it for what its worth. ;)

Between the crunchiness, the cost of spaghetti(I dont usually think Disney Dining is overpriced, but this was a bit much), and the fruitflies that attacked us throughout the meal, we wont be going back.

Hope you have a better experience. :D

We think Tony's is great. We come from a "Little Italy" part of the US originally. We know good family style Italian food. We've never left Tony's thinking we've had a bad meal.

My family is Italian and also know good italian food. I do think Tony's slightly overpriced but the food has always been fine, it wasnt the best in the world but it was good.
Enjoy it
Matt

My DH and I really like Tony's! We've been there twice I think, and both times we had a pizza that had no sauce on it (just cheeze and garlic and olive oil, I think). It is soooo good! Also, the last time that we were there, our server was a guy from another country. He asked us why we didn't have a baby yet because we were "so good together"! I thought that that was the sweetest compliment anyone has ever given us:D

I have to admitt, I like Tony's, but mainly because I love Lady & the Tramp! DH and I shared a plate of spaghetti on our first date (not to be romantic but because we were 16 and had no money  ). Anyhow, ever since then, Lady & the Tramp has held a special place in my heart. :o

We've had some good food and some mediocre food there - nothing actually "bad." I'd probably try something different if it weren't for the theming, though, because there are really good restaurants in the parks...

Actually I've heard good things about Tony's for breakfast (are they still serving it since the Cyrtal Pacae re-opened?) That could be one option for goign to Tony's.

I think for Italian you might be better off at Mama Melrose's in MGM or in Italy in Epcot.....

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

We are part of the group that will never return to Tony's!
For so long I had heard it was good and wanted to try it. We did last Oct and it was the worst meal we ever ate at WDW!:(

There was just nothing good about it!
just try finishing off the 3/4 pound meatball!!!!!
Yeah, right.....just try to finish that hard as a baseball, tasteless, hunk of rubber!
That was the first and only time I have ever complained to the staff about the food at any WDW restaurant.

i like al dente pasta. what i had was not even cooked. it was crunchy on the ends as if it was straight out of the box. YUCK!!! it was also topped with the green crunchy leaves that camcolt describes. my meatball was also pretty nasty.

we also had a waiter that kept calling me princess (at the time i was 22 and with my fiance) in a tone that made me feel very uncomfortable. needless to say, we won't be back, but i'm of the opinion that people should try a restaurant once, even if it got bad reviews b/c they might end up liking it.

We ate there last week for lunch. Didn't plan on it,but decided at the last minute we didn't want anymore counter service meals.

I had low expectations walking in. We were pleasantly surprised! And I'm Italian. My daughter had the spaghetti and it was NOT crunchy. I had the baked ziti which was very good and DH liked tortellini with alfredo sauce and prosciutto. Other DD said teh pizza was bland.

The place was only about half full, which may have helped. Perhaps macaroni gets crunchy from sitting under heat lamps too long during busy times?

So I would recommend this place.

For you Italians (or anyone really) how does it compare to Alfredo's at EPCOT? We are not fans of the EPCOT dinner prices, crowded room and pushy waiters (appetizer, dessert? etc) but like the pasta dishes. And I don't mind heaps of parsley or al dente. Could do without uncooked noodles, though.

I am not Italian but I LOVE Spaghetti. I like all kinds of different rred sauces so when I go to a restaurant it is always fun to try there spaghetti. I have only found a couple of places in my 47 years that I didn't like. So I may not be a good person to give an opinion. The spaghetti at Tony's was good. It is a marinara sauce and didn't have hardly any (if any at all) veggies in it. I didn't detect, bell peppers or mushrooms or onions. If there was any it was minimal. There also was not much spicing going on. It was not super chunky like Pomadoro sauce. It was somewhat bland but once in a while I love a nice marinara sauce and this really hit the spot that day.
