Tony's. Any recommendations?

A common complaint about the dishes at Tony's seems to be that the red sauce is awful. Perhaps this is the reason a couple of folks on the thread have mentioned steak? Peachkins any chance you could convince those in your party that are insistent on going there that just about anything else would be better?
I love the red sauce!! I always manage to bring some home with me.... On my shirt.

It looks like th menu is a little different and of course the prices have gone up as well. The chicken parm is now over 26.00 yikes! My DD and I shared the flat bread pizza once and it was okay, not bad.

My family likes Tony's. I don't understand the hate for it, especially given the better reviews for Liberty Tree Tavern dinner, which I found so mediocre to poor (seriously, I can make Kraft mac and cheese at home for a dollar, theirs tasted worse) that I've never been tempted to try again.

I have found appetizers (salads, soup, I think we had calamari too) to be very good, and all the red sauce dishes were good as well...much better than my more expensive meal at Tutto Italia so maybe I just get Tony's on 'good' nights? Last trip we had cannelloni, spagt/meatballs, and a pizza IIRC, and dessert...we had a seasonal dessert, but it was great. Again, maybe I've just gotten lucky. However, I do admit that Tony's is on par with Olive Garden, as has been said on these boards. It's NOT high end, but I personally enjoy it and don't find it inedible or gross.

And, frankly, I don't find many sit down restaurants in MK to be all that great compared to those in other parks. I haven't eaten at BOG yet, but Crystal Palace is an average buffet and not the best at Disney (the atmosphere is what makes it what it is, IMO, not the food), Liberty Tree Tavern I do not want to go back to, the Plaza is probably the best of the lot but still sandwiches, and Tony's is on par with Olive Garden. We usually select a sit down in MK to have a real break, but it's never one of our anticipated meals of the trip.

I love Tony's. The chicken parmesan is very good and the pistachio crème brulee is one of my favorite desserts on WDW property.

I like Tony's too! The Creme Brûlée is delicious!

I'm not sure why, but we are huge fans of the spaghetti & meatballs. I have no interest in ordering a different meal, not because I think they're bad, but rather I just can't give up the
S & MB's.

PS- we also used to get an app, the name slips me... It was the tomato, cheese, and balsamic combo. Quite good.

I am another who just does not get the hate. I se rave reviews of LTT as well, and I would rather chew glass and die than eat there Again. I like the calimari and the caprese salad was delicious.

Another fan of the meatballs also!

If I ever went back, which I don't anticipate ................

If on DDP, I'd probably try the steak and cross my fingers. I for sure would not get any pasta meals.
If paying cash, I might just get an appetizer sized salad.
If someone wanted to split a flatbread maybe that too, but wouldn't order an entree on my own.
I'd rather save money and stomach space for a good snack later.
Same here!! I'd stay away from all/any pasta dish. Spagetti and meatballs and chicken parm were the worst i've ever had in my life. The salad, wilted. Everything was awful. So i'd definitely get the steak and pray to the good lord that it turns out decent. Although a friend of mine had the steak last year and said it wasnt good. I think the flat bread is a safe choice for your meal. Oh, and their ice water is spectacular. I'd recommend that. :)

I've never had a terrible meal there but I also go into the restaurant knowing that I'm in a theme park. I never expect greatness. I like the apps and soup: calamari, caprese salad (tomatoes and mozzerella), and some pasta fagioli (unless it's summertime).

My DH and I both had the Chicken Parm last time we went. It wasn't horrible but not good enough to make me "have" to go back. The pistachio crème brulee was amazing like SuzieN said.
This. If you need to eat somewhere at MK, it works. DD 18 still loves the spaghetti and meatballs. Just don't expect fine dining.

Okay, well there goes my salad theory. Here is my issue with the flatbread .... though I would order to share if need be .... let's compare two like sized pizza/flatbreads.

Tony's "pizza" has Margherita for $19, Sausage or Pepperoni for $20 [all beyond basic] or their Artisanal with Sausage, Pepperoni, Roasted Peppers and Carmelizied Onions for $20 [closest they have to special]. With this we got a zero theme, chaotic, dirty, service-less restaurant. A restaurant that always has availability.

California Grill offers Lamb Sausage with Ramp Pesto, Manchego, Feta, Pickled Peppers, Harissa Mayonnaise, Sunchoke Chips for $16, Mushroom with Red Onion Jam, Cultivated Mushrooms, Blue Cheese for $16, Rotisserie Chicken with Tomato and Corn Salsa, Pepper Jack Cheese, Queso Fresco, Spicy Crema for $16. With this we got a beautiful, perfectly maintained restaurant with top notch service, a view of MK including fireworks. A restaurant that is difficult to get in because it's so popular.

All this tells me is that not only is the food at Tony's not good but severely overpriced.

And I don't agree that we have to accept bad food because we are in a theme park. This is not Six Flags, this is not quick service. I do expect table service restaurant food to be better considering the prices I'm paying on top of getting in the park. I won't settle - I'd rather bring in a sandwich than waste the money. MK is the worst food park for us.

We enjoy table service, it's a nice break from the day, prices are getting crazy, so we have lately been enjoying appetizers and drinks. The money saved is great to try all those snacks we never have room for.

We enjoyed Tony's during our last visit. Not the best, but not the worst either. It is extremely overpriced though...like most things at Disney.

Chicken Parm was good.

we ate there last year, and while my hubby and kids thought it was ok, I did not...I ordered the chicken parm and I told them LIGHT sauce bc I get sick if I eat too much spaghetti sauce. My plate came out with a PILE of sauce on it...I pushed the sauce off my chicken and ate the chicken, which wasn't half bad and didn't touch the spaghetti. My husband told me I should of sent the plate back, but I really hate doing that and I am not 1 to complain. I don't like getting people in trouble at their jobs. Anyways for desert though I ordered some sort of Orange Marmalade Cheesecake and boy oh boy that was like night and day to my lunch, lol...it was soooo tasty! Probably the best desert I had on property that week, LOL

Thats interesting that the flatbread is more expensive at Tony's than CG! Never really compared the two. The flatbread at CG is amazing....so I dont understand how Tony's can justify charging more for theirs.

I agree that we shouldn't have to accept bad food just because its inside the park. Either way your spending money, might as well get decent food. There's no excuse for bad food! I too would rather just snack or bring in my own food in that case.

I had never gotten the flatbread at CG until our last trip when after a filling lunch at DS we decided on ordering appetizers and sushi. Was so sure based on the price it would be a tiny flatbread. Nope, a full size and ended up bringing half home. And delicious with wonderful flavors. Disney can pull off some good appetizers.

Yes the flatbread at CG is a great size! It would be enough as an entree IMO. And the flavours, yum!! Very good! :goodvibes

My first thought was--Go somewhere else. That is my recommendation.

I have eaten there many times over the years and have never had a bad meal or bad service. It's not gourmet food and it's not the best Italian food, but it's good. Last time I was there I had the spaghetti and meatballs and enjoyed it.

Loling at some of the responses. Alright then, Pistachio Creme Brulee for dinner it is! :thumbsup2
