Did anyone else see the video he shot?!?

He was reporting on the people who are at the New Orleans Convention Center (NOT the Superdome)...he said that they are NOT hostile, they are NOT shooting at helicopters, they went to where the government told them. Tony is saying that these people did EVERYTHING that they were being told and these people have been forgotten

He had to go out and get support systems for the TV and he saw 82 busses sitting their. Just sitting there. He asked them why they aren't doing anything. He said they are scared, but he explain that at the convention center THEY ARE NOT HOSTILE. These people are coming together to help each other but they are DESPERATE.

His report was amazing (bad word to use)...I hope they air it again.

The way it sounds now...it sounds like there are thousands of people at the Convention Center that were totally FORGOTTEN. Literally, forgotten.

ETA - well it sounds like the military did drop some water. I bet it was after Tony's report!

They have only received four trucks of bottled water in seven hours, and have not returned. They heard shots on the outside and the people became agitated and there was a small "stampede" inside. People in there feel abandoned.

They have shown his footage and interview many times today, and again on Dateline. I saw it 4x and have only been watching tonight - you should be able to catch it again on an NBC affiliate.

It's incredible. They said they can't even show much of the footage on TV. It's that bad.

This situation is the one that I have been SO angry about today.

Nobody really knows who told them to go to the convention center. The report I saw on the news, either CNN or MSNBC said it was like a huge rumor spread on the street that they were to go there, has anyone confirmed from the government that they told them to go there or was the reported correct? I wish I would pay attention to names and channels that I watch, but I flip too much! I just know it was not Fox, cause I didn't stay on that channel at all the last few nights

What I don't understand is, if they have been showing it all day, and WE all know they are there- I am sure the relief people have cell phones or SOMETHING that the are communicating with. There is no reason for those people to still be there without any help.

Oh definitely. He was discussing it and he appeared very upset and frustarated. He said he saw people DIE in front on him...literally, just drop dead....

I think your assumption on commincations is probably wrong. Cell phones are not working well in NO.. the towers are down the system is overloaded. Same things with police radios etc...

The lack of communication infrastructure is one of the biggest issues. It is highly possible that the TV reports out are the ONLY method of communciation.

There does appear to be some confusion on how these folks got there. The Convention Center was not a shelter of last resort, but maybe it was approrpairted....

You know with all the communication problems on 9/11 you'd think Homeland Security would have dealt with communiation issues. What do the marines in Iraq use? I mean obviously they don't have cell phone or TV's....do they just have really good radios??

This may be a first...the NEWS MEDIA knows more than the government....

I just posted a similar thought on another thread... we are no more secure or prepared than we were on 9/10/01... oh yeah....at work I can't give a 82yo granny a credit card if she will only give me her PO Box address (USA PATRIOT Act) so we must be safer (read-sarcasm!)
