Tony Little Gazelle or other machine?

Has anyone tried the Tony Little Gazelle Freestyle glider machine? It seemed to get good reviews, but I thought I'd ask on here to see is anyone actually has one.

I'm debating between a Gazelle, a treadmill, and an elliptical. Any thoughts? I just started a new diet, and I have never exercised a lot in the past, so I just need something that's easy and convenient, but gives you a work out too.

Thanks! :)

I have a Gazelle. I used it for a couple of years til I switched to a treadmill.

I liked using a Gazelle. It's fun! But I needed more of a challenge, so eventually I got a treadmill.

Thanks for your post! So do you feel like the Gazelle is a good place to start as far as an excercise routine goes? You mentioned that it wasn't challenging enough, but do you feel like it was at first and you just "outgrew" its difficulty level?

Thanks!

Yep, that's it, I outgrew it. It helped me get active, and stay motivated. Then I needed more. It is a good place to start!

I did not like the gazelle at all. I don't think it really gives enough of a workout and would recommend either the treadmill or elliptical.

This is posed on another thread. I've added a link to yet another in that one. I'm going to link you there and maybe some of the posts will help you too.

I have used a treadmill for several years and love it. Found a Gazelle at a garage sale for $20 so I bought it - rarely use it - agree with Lily not much of a workout but sometimes I use it as a cross-train muscle type stretch but I would definitely vote for a treadmill. And, my suggestion is to do your research, decide what you need (we needed one that my DH could run on if the weather was too bad in the winter). Mine is in the family room where I am able to watch tv so I use that time to watch things DH is not interested in. I don't have a problem with being bored and I like the fact that I can control the speed, incline etc. Mine shows calories used but I keep the mindset that is probably an underestimate.

Actually, I would recommend getting several Walk Away the Pounds Tapes(WATP) by Leslie Sansone before I would recommend spending bucks on the gazelle.

Someone gave me a Gazelle about 3 months ago and I just sold it. It isn't worth it in my opinion. It might be okay for someone who is really out of shape and small, but at 5'8 and 175 lbs I felt like it might shake apart with my weight. It also has no resistance settings so you can't up your intensity at wll.

I would definitely go for the elliptical trainer. It is low-impact and you can start slow and gradually move it up in resistance. TM would be okay but I know for me, my knees can't take it.

I have a gym membership so I use the elliptical there. With 3-4 times a week at 30 minutes at a time, some minor weight training, and a 1200-1400 calorie diet, I lost 40 lbs in about 4-6 months.

My thought in getting the Gazelle is that it might work for days I can't make it to the gym (plus it was free). I bought a mini-stepper with the money I got for it, and I think that works a lot better.

With all due respect to Tony; it's a clothes hanger from the beginning. Of the three listed, the treadmill is by far the most versitile; though I would caution on buying the cheapest. I would really rather see you hit a health club since you are just starting out on the fitness path. The benfits of a club are that you feel a little more obligated to go if you see your monthly payment, you have someone looking over your shoulder and if you find a friend to go, there is the peer obbligation.

I have two treadmills and one elliptical. I love my electric treadmill. I can run or walk! S
