The whole reason I was so anxious to get my new camera was for tonight. My youngest DD (13) had her Christmas dance recital. I played around a bit with lenses and settings during the recital. She danced last, so I had about an hour to check things out. The 50mm f/1.8 lens did OK since we were in the 2nd row, but I wanted to get some closer shots. I tried my 70-300mm lens and after cropping a bit and playing with it this is what I got - I wish it were sharper - pretty soft but I had the camera opened up to just about 300mm for this.

This next one was taken right before the recital with my DDs best friend. I did use the 50mm f/1.8 for this one and I am very happy with the results.

I wish I could afford a really good high speed zoom lens - but I am going to have to make due with what I have for the time being. BUT - it IS on my wish list. ;)

Why is the elastic on the pointe shoe down so low on the arch? :confused3

The elastic should be in a "loop shape" with both ends tacked at the back seam of the pointe shoe - so that the elastic goes right over the highest point of the arch. :cheer2:

Not only is it more comfortable, but it will support the arch better - and it will keep the shoe on better from slipping off of the heel....(if she's going on full pointe) :dance3:

Have your daughter try it - and let me know how she likes it! :cool1:

Because she has an extremely strange foot! We tried the way you suggested and her shoe was still slipping. Believe me - we have tried it sooo many ways - her teacher finally suggested this and it works. I can't even begin to tell you have many different pointe shoes she has tried on as well. The best fit she got was from a Russian pointe - but she destroyed the shoe within a few months and it didn't give her enough support. We are doing the very best we can with her strange feet - very long - wide across the ball and VERY narrow at the heel.
