Dear DISers, welcome to this dimension. Kick off your shoes and make yourselves comfortable, we have quite a long and possibly bumpy trip ahead of us.

So that's what happened tonight : here I was, all nostalgicky, looking at photos from our past trips to the World.. And I noticed something, quite early on.

Let's see if you can catch it all by your wittle selves, alright?

This is my sister, Jessica.

So, THAT'S our thing heh ? That's what makes our "group". We are special. We are Tonguestickers.
I, obviously, am the chief of the group, making me Tonguesticker Extraordinaire.
It was only natural that they put me in charge of our trip. Not that they had a choice anyway.

Anyone wanna come along, you know what to do !!! Three, two, one : STICK!

So, after our last trip to Disney, Grumpy & I came back feeling a little overmoused. Don't get me wrong, we'd had a good time, but it was time to try something new!

We got an awesome rate at the Hard Rock Hotel and decided to get tickets to US, because they were cheap and we thought even if we only went a couple times, it wouldn't be a huge loss.

Well, we ended up LOVING it (sorry hard rock Disney fans!). The parks were so quiet, the first day we went, I'd never seen anything like this.

First we did Shrek AD and I thought it was hilarious. I've never seen any of the Shrek movies so I don't know the characters, but I liked that donkey :) Then we walked to the Simpsons and it was EMPTY. The only other human being there was the ride attendant.

The Simpsons ride is great ! I didn't expect it to be so fun. We rode it several times during our trip. Grumpy also loved Men In Black although she, as usual, was hopeless at the shooting part (she shot Will Smith!!!!!!!).

Since the parks were so empty we barely had to wait anywhere, not even for characters. Grumpy met some new friends !

We knew we wanted to come back. At that point I knew very little about Harry Potter opening, we'd loved the Hard Rock Hotel and knew that we could easily add Jessi & Alex to the room yet still have plenty of space.

So initially, the goal was to come back for 5 days or so, and then head off to Ft Lauderdale for a few days as well. A short, 10-12 days vacation would be more than enough, right ???

We started planning our next trip on the plane back!!!! I was a bit concerned because, due to her high blood pressure, Jess can't ride any simulator kind of ride. Last summer she was really sick after riding Polar Express at Seaworld, and then we figured out that's why she was so bad after MGM on our first trip. She'd gone on Star Tours twice. So, no simulator for her. She's not a coaster person either. So, except for water rides and 3D shows there wouldn't be much for her to do at US.
What if we added a couple days and went to Seaworld ?

Once home I started looking around at hotels, flights, etc.. We couldn't book anything until I knew my vacation dates were accepted. Jess works now, in a high school, so unfortunately for us, we had to go during school vacation.
Hi again, scorching heat !! Missed ya!

We looked at everything. Seaworld packages, Uni packages, Flextickets... the only thing we knew for sure :rolleyes1 was : NO DISNEY.
The prices were scary. $900 just for tickets, we'd need 2 rooms, the total was frightening. So Disney was definitely (haha) out.

One night Jess & I were talking and we both agreed it was too bad we could only go for up to 2 weeks (my dad doesn't want Grumpy to leave for more than 2 weeks). The fights are so expensive this time of year, about $1200 each, so Jess suggested the three of us go a week early to Orlando and do a few things Grumpy doesn't really care for. Then she could join us for the rest of the trip, as planned.

A few days later we noticed that the cheapest flights all went through JFK. Alex has always wanted to see New York. We could get a flight to JFK, spend a couple days in the city, and then head to Orlando. The trip was now just a little over 3 weeks.

Several years ago during a trip in Ft Lauderdale, Grumpy went to see Key West. I didn't go and always regretted it. The girls wanted to go too but it's something like $180 each from Ft Lauderdale because we have to get to Miami first. Well, we had to leave from Miami anyway, so why not spend the last few days there?

In the end, after adding a day here and a day there, and another one there because the domestic flight is cheaper the next day, we had THIS :

July 24-28 in New York
July 28-Aug 10 in Orlando (doing Universal and Seaworld)
Aug 10-19 in Ft Lauderdale
Aug 19-22 in Miami

ONE MONTH !!!!!!!!! Holy mackerel, we're going to be in the US for one month!
We even added Discovery Cove to our schedule. Since we weren't going to Disney, we could splurge on Cove. Just for Jessi & me since Alex doesn't care for pools and would rather go to the NASA again.

Then, I quit my job.
And somehow, that got the mouse back in the picture.

So who did Grumpy molest at Universal?:rotfl:
I can't believe you get to spend 1 whole month in the US. That's awesome. I think that it is great that you and Jess are getting along better. Congratulations to Jess on her new job. What is her job at the school?

"V" was a show in the U.S. in the '80s starring Marc Singer. It was revived last year and has been renewed for next year. In the original, Visitors came to earth supposedly as friends, but of course they had an evil plot. We're not sure exactly what the evil plot is yet in the new version. The original visitors (and the new ones) have human exteriors, but are lizards underneath. The originals had these long forked tongues they could stick out, usually when they were going to attack. It was good, campy fun.

I enjoyed the recap to take us up to speed. Sounds like you are getting excited for your trip!

Woohoo !!!! Managed to score an extra day in Disney!!!!!!!!

The only problem is my phone line's so bad they can't understand a word I say at the reservations center. So I'm thinking I can make the additional ressies online & modify the original one once we get to Orlando?

OK anyway the short story on how we added Disney, is that after I quit my job I wanted to go to the US sooner but no matter what I tried it wouldn't work out (NY hotel not available, domestic flight wayyy too expensive..).
So instead I started looking at going to WDW for one day. And maybe two days... And before we knew it we'd booked CSR :)

At this time in two weeks, we'll be in NYC !!!!!!!! :cool1:

No molesting yet ! I did try to keep some distance between her and Scooby though, you never know.
Jess is an assistant secretary at the high school. She's doing really well there but she kinda hates it :) She still goes though and that's all that matters.
