My dad loves Tonga Toast and I have never had it nor have I seen it. I found a recipe for it and I was going to make it for my dad. However, the directions on the recipe are very hard to invision. I have been looking for a picture of Tonga Toast, so that I have something to go by; but no luck. I was wondering if anyone had a picture of it or if they knew where I could find one.

I dont have the recipe sorry but OMG am I hungry for Tonga Toast!!! I can almost smell it and taste it!
7 more days, 7 more days, I can make it...

also with tonga toast, make sure you are using the konah receipe and not the animal kingdom recipe, they have the same name, but are very different.

I would imagine Tonga Toast is pretty difficult to make. I suppose it would be easier if you had a deep fryer.

I know I have seen a recipe for this. I'm pretty sure it was in a Family Fun magazine a while back...maybe even a couple of years. Their website will probably still have it. You should also check the mousesavers.com website. They have recipes and I think this was listed. It sounds good!

Here is a link to the recipe, I have made it and it is very yummy. Instead of using thick bread I used 2 slices of regular bread and put the bananna inside. I was sure to leave enough room around the edges so I could seal it. I brushed a little egg mixture around the edges to seal the pocket. Did I make sense?

You can't see really well from the picture but it is very thick and completely yummy!

Thank you so much for the picture. I didn't realize that the bread was that thick. I now understand how you can put a banana inside of the bread. Thanks again.......by the way, you dont look gross!!! :)

I see that you are from New Orleans too. I've made Tonga Toast before - here's a tip - if you go to Dorignac's on Veterans, you can order their bakery made bread and ask them not to slice it. That way, you can slice it thick for the Tonga Toast. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the tip. I will definitly let you know how it comes out.

BTW I am going to WDW for Mardi Gras as well. I am leaving Mardi Gras day and staying in Grovesnor Resort by Downtown Disney.

Wait, are there actual slices of banana in the toast.. or is it just banana flavored/mashed banana inside it? Thanks :flower:
