I've been a WDW lover for years- and we always made time for Tonga toast at Kona every trip....after last year,we're done! My DH asked, there are no eggs in it anymore...the bananas taste....not real.
it used to be SUBLIME,and last january ruined it for us. How can you have french toast without any eggs? what in the world is it crusted and cooked in? not sure I want to know....but I don't think it's worth bothering with anymore-anyone else feel this way?

oh no! i wanted to stay at the polynesian after just READING about the tonga toast. well, since i've never had it before maybe it will still be good for me? haha

oh no!!! I LOVE Stuffed Tonga toast. Why ruin a good thing? I will gladly pay the 10 cents extra this is possibly costing. what a disappointment

I guess if we'd never tasted it from a few years ago,it would have been ok....but it just isn't the same, I recall years ago getting the recipe for it...and it isn't at all the same.....

Do you think it's the same thing with the Tonga toast at Captain Cooks? I read somewhere they serve it there too. We're staying at BLT (starting tomorrow :banana:) and I was planning a morning trip to the Poly for breakfast to try it. Maybe I won't notice since I've never had it before and will still think it's delicious?

I have never had it before but I have heard so much about it. I actually did a youtube search on it and there is a guy on there who will show you how to make it. I am dying to try it soon because it looked soooo good. Maybe you could try that too, to make it the real way. :)

Yes, it's the same thing. My family actually likes eating Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks rather than Kona, and it's a little cheaper. We ordered and took it to one of the tables outside.

I've made it at home. It may be a little too much trouble for breakfast but for a nice brunch or lunch, or even dinner, it's good. It's easy to find the recipe, too.

We love Tonga Toast and have it at Kona every trip. We had it this past Feb. and it tasted the same as always. Maybe it was an off day?

This is the first I've heard a complaint about it (except for the "it's too sweet" complaint - gee, really?). I've been eating it for the past 2 years and am VERY much looking forward to it this Saturday. We'll see...

To each their own. I don't think anyone should base where they stay or what they eat on the review of someone else who stayed or ate at a totally different time.

I've had it several times over the past few months(one of my favorites!!) and its tasted just as delicious as always.. hopefully you just had a bad meal, it happens... but, to each his own.

Oh no! We'll be there in December and I'm praying that the Tonga Toast is up to standards.
