I'm reading reports at Tikiman's facebook group that the bread company that provided the bread to make the Tonga Toast is no longer working with Disney. Many people are complaining about the new bread they have been using. Anyone had Tonga Toast in the last week or so that can comment on this?

Just in case someone reads that as a choice on Disney's part, Tikiman's post states that the bread company is no longer working with Disney. So before the pitchforks come out, we don't know who decided to not work with whom.

Thanks! I edited the post to reflect that so that it won't misconstrued.

Aw bummer. Just scheduled an ADR at Kona in October to try the famed Tonga Toast! I guess it's probably a good thing that I won't be able to compare it to the old version though!

They have other delicious food. http://allears.net/dining/menu/kona-cafe/breakfast
The Samoan and Big Kahuna are delicious. We love the 100% Kona coffee too.
We always buy some beans to take home. We are going back in September. Can't wait.

Tonga Toast is the only thing I've ever ordered at WDW that I didn't like. Didn't like it so much I threw it out. DH and I both thought it was nasty, and we'd waited so long to try it, too.

Uh oh! Alright DH and I will definitely be getting different entrees in case we hate it!

We all love the Tonga Toast. We have ordered it as an appetizer with our party of 6 sometimes. We have an upcoming ADR. Can't wait.

Couldn't agree more. You just described my hubbys and my favorite meals (and coffee too). Add in a bloody mary and you have breakfast perfection

Don't forget the macadamia nut pancakes and the fruit bowl! I was a one and done TT-er. I was hoping this post would say the bananas in the middle were removed, as then I might like it! (Sacrilegious to most, I am sure.)

I'm under the impression you can order it without the banana.

When we first got it, our sassy server said "here's your half loaf of bread!" when she put it down.

Without the banana that is literally what it is. Half a loaf of bread, basically fried.

Not sure what's attractive about that, LOL.

Kona is such a great place for breakfast, Tonga Toast isn't the only great thing on the menu. I actually didn't care for it when I had it- it was too heavy and sweet for me. I go for the macadamia-pineapple pancakes! Now those are truly delicious in every way! I get the pineapple on the side (not a fan of crushed pineapples). There are other popular items - the samoan and the Big Kahuna are great too! Oh and the fruit bowl, served in a fresh half cut pineapple with banana bread - oh my goodness! So good!!!

I had the Tonga Toast without the banana (a year ago though) and it was good! Its like sugary french toast and the strawberry compote is really good.
